There is one more full round of matches in the Vitality Blast prior to a round of County Championship fixtures. It takes place up and down the country on Friday evening and is an important night for a number of sides moving forward.
We have four matches from the North Group which includes the TV game which is the Roses clash at Old Trafford. There are also four more from the South Group on a night which might begin to make the quarter final picture a touch clearer.
North Group
All eyes will be on Old Trafford when the two arch rivals meet when Lancashire host Yorkshire in a clash which sees Jos Buttler up against Joe Root. Elsewhere there is a big game for the Birmingham Bears and the Northamptonshire Steelbacks at Edgbaston while the Nottinghamshire Outlaws and Leicestershire Foxes do battle at Trent Bridge. Durham Jets play host to the Worcestershire Rapids in the other match in the group.
South Group
Somerset will look to back up their win on Thursday night when they head across the Severn Bridge to take on Glamorgan while the table toppers Kent Spitfires host Surrey in possibly the match of the night in this group. Hampshire will go in search of their first win of the competition when they host Middlesex at the Ageas Bowl while down at Cheltenham, Gloucestershire will go in search of a fourth win in five matches when they go up against the Essex Eagles.

Match Betting
I’m going with two bets over the course of the evening. Initially I was lining up an attack on the side markets in a number of matches as this card looks like a good one but annoyingly there is a band of rain doing the rounds of the country on Friday evening so all of a sudden this is an evening to put the brakes on.
The first bet comes on a Gloucestershire side who have won three of their four matches and they happen to be their last three so they are in good form. In an ideal world they wouldn’t have had to play a Championship match this week but they batted all day on Thursday so they should be fresh enough. I’ve highlighted Essex’s issues all season so far and while Adam Zampa is performing brilliantly for them they remain a batsman light and are without Jamie Porter in this one too. Gloucestershire have Andrew Tye fully in situ now and could have Benny Howell back and they are the bet in this one.
The other bet I like is for Hampshire to see off Middlesex. Hampshire have been little short of pathetic in this competition so far but they are a good one day side and have had a week off to reflect on their shortcomings. The good thing for them is in T20 at least Middlesex are a much worse side and they arrive in Southampton off the back of a savage beating by Somerset on Thursday evening. I always say backing up a match the night before is never easy and we see that time and again. To be fair to Hampshire, they put in their best batting performance of the campaign in their last match. That had been their issue. If they bat well here they have enough in their bowling to get it done.
