Friday night has arrived which means the weekend is about to begin and what better way than for it to get going than with a full fixture list in the Vitality Blast! Eight matches take place up and down the country on Friday on what is another pivotal night in the competition.
Once again although the Test match is going on at Edgbaston we do still have a TV match to get to enjoy while there are the usual ways of keeping up to date with the other games over the course of the evening.
North Group
There are four matches in the North Group on Friday with the big match coming from New Road where Worcestershire play host to Durham in a match which sees third hosting the leaders. The second placed side Lancashire are also in action when they play host to Leicestershire at Old Trafford. Yorkshire are in the final qualification spot heading into the evening and they will look to stay there when they meet Northamptonshire at Headingley while the other game sees Birmingham Bears looking to build on their win on Thursday evening when they head to Derby in what is a huge game for both sides.
South Group
The leaders of the South Group are in action too as Gloucestershire cross the Severn Bridge to take on Glamorgan. Second placed Kent will look to move top of the table when they face Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl while third placed Somerset look to have a golden chance for two valuable points when they host Essex at Taunton. We have to wait until last for the TV match which is the London derby between Surrey and Middlesex at The Oval.

TV Match Betting
We’ve already seen one high scoring match at The Oval this week and I see no reason why we won’t see the boundaries flow once again. It was pretty obvious that Surrey’s plan of attack with the bat is to go hard at the start and then keep on going throughout the innings. They bat deep and have the ability to do that.
We also saw a flimsiness to them with the ball though which the likes of Eoin Morgan, John Simpson and Paul Stirling in particular can feast on so I’m expecting the boundaries to get a good peppering on what should be a fantastic night for cricket at The Oval. Over 41.5 boundaries looks the way forward to me especially when we factor in there have been totals of 44, 48, 28 (10 over game) and 49 so far.
Other Matches
I’m not normally one for doubles but there are a number of short priced favourites who look good things on the course of the evening and I’m going to double up the Roses pair. Lancashire are flying in this competition and even without Liam Livingstone and Jos Buttler I’m expecting them to have too much for Leicestershire who have stopped scoring runs all of a sudden. Lancashire thrashed Leicestershire at Grace Road earlier in the season and can win again while Yorkshire look a penalty kick against a Northamptonshire side who look devoid of any confidence and who have to back up a horrible loss to Durham less than 24hrs later. Both those matches should be home wins at a shade over 7/5.
Somerset are in good form in this competition and for a few hours at least they will be able to go top of the pile in the South Group should they beat Essex. Essex have it tough here. Their match at Kent on Thursday night was delayed by the sun of all things and didn’t finish until gone 10pm and by the time they had showered, warmed down, done media and everything else you wouldn’t think they would have got away much before 11pm then they have the long trek to Taunton to play cricket probably less than 12hrs after arriving. That is not a good hand they have been dealt. Somerset have no such issues. Unlike Essex they are winning matches and look good and they should ease to victory here.
