There are two matches in the Vitality Blast on Sunday afternoon with the North Group once again in the spotlight with both games coming from that section of the competition. The group is heading towards the halfway stage so both games are pretty significant.
We have one match on the TV which comes from New Road where Worcestershire take on Yorkshire while we will have the radio coverage and social media updates for the other one between Birmingham Bears and the Durham Jets. We’ll kick off with the TV game.
Worcestershire Rapids vs Yorkshire Vikings
The leaders of the North Group, Worcestershire Rapids, host a Yorkshire side who have more wins on their ledger than losses in what feels like a key match in the North Group at New Road on Sunday afternoon.
Worcestershire have played four matches in this competition and won the lot of them and while Yorkshire have a couple of wins from their three matches they have only beaten Durham twice and I’m not convinced that is much of a form guide so they need a genuine win before I take them as seriously as others.
I would fancy Worcestershire to win but not as much as I expect a high scoring match here and one in which the boundaries can flow. Sky have to find space for that pod thing they commentate from so the boundaries are going to be in here anyway but they’re not that big even at full capacity, especially straight down the pitch. Both sides are loaded with batters and can be indifferent with the ball. Over 40.5 boundaries looks the play here especially with totals of 54 and 34 (nine over match) on this ground so far.
I’ll also have a shilling on Ross Whiteley to be the top Worcestershire batsman. He clubbed 66 against Yorkshire in the One Day Cup earlier in the season and is a powerful batsmen for whom this ground is nowhere near big enough. Yorkshire tend to fade towards the end of their bowling innings which could be perfect for Whiteley to land top batsman honours with some lusty blows.

Birmingham Bears vs Durham Jets
Two sides at the wrong end of the table who suffered heavy defeats on Friday night meet at Edgbaston on Sunday afternoon when the Birmingham Bears take on the Durham Jets in what feels like a must win match for the pair of them.
The Bears have a couple of wins and a couple of defeats to their name so far. One of those defeats was to Worcestershire who are running away with things at the minute while the other was more of a concern in that it came against Leicestershire but I think they just ran into a special innings there.
Durham beat the aforementioned Leicestershire but have lost twice to a Yorkshire side who Birmingham Bears have comfortably beaten so far this season. That doesn’t really give us much of a form guide on this match and it highlights the unpredictability of things perfectly so I’ll leave this match alone.
