2018 Vitality Blast – Thursday 5th July Matches Betting Preview

The Vitality Blast continues with three more matches on Thursday night as six more counties get their campaigns underway on what should be another good night of action given the blinding forecast for the evening.

As with Wednesday, we have one match live on TV to enjoy while the other two have many options of being kept up to date with social as radio commentary and social media and things so we are all set for a decent evening.

Wednesday’s fixtures are as follows: (18.30 BST unless stated)

Middlesex vs Surrey (18.15)

Lancashire vs Worcestershire

Yorkshire vs Durham

Preview

It has been a slow start in the South Group with just one match per evening so far but it is that contest between Middlesex and Surrey which is the TV game on Thursday night. Whoever wins that will join Sussex as the early pacesetters. In the North Group the well fancied Lancashire play host to Worcestershire while Yorkshire get their T20 campaign underway when they host Durham at Headingley.

Betting

It is a tricky evening to find much in the way of value so I’ll just go with two main bets. In the TV match I’m going to go with Middlesex. Taking sides coached by Daniel Vettori always makes me nervous and it is definitely the fastest route to the poor house but on this occasion they do look like they are getting Surrey at the right time. Eoin Morgan and Steven Finn being away and out is not ideal but Middlesex still have plenty of options with the bat and the ball. They get Surrey at a time that they have no overseas player and Jason Roy is away with England while Tom Curran is injured. Middlesex won’t be a long term play in this competition but I expect them to get the job done here.

I’m also expecting a high scoring affair at Old Trafford when Lancashire take on Worcestershire. We saw on Tuesday evening when India were flaying it to all parts how good the wicket is at Old Trafford at the minute and with Worcestershire loaded with classy batsmen but with an attack that is begging to be slaughtered around the park I’m expecting runs to flow. Lancashire have some big hitters in their ranks so a 326.5 runs line looks on the low side.

Tips

WON – Back Middlesex to beat Surrey for a 4/10 stake at 1.83 with BetVictor
