2019-20 Bundesliga – Wednesday 17th June Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The midweek action in the Bundesliga concludes on Wednesday evening and at the end of the night there will be just two rounds of matches remaining in the delayed campaign in the German top flight, so each game is beginning to carry real significance for those playing for something.

We now officially know who the champions are this season and we also know the first of the two teams who will depart the competition and head for Bundesliga 2. The five matches on Wednesday could make the picture on the top four and the other relegation spot clearer.

Wednesday’s fixtures are as follows: (19.30 UK unless stated)

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Schalke (17.30)

Augsburg vs Hoffenheim

Bayer Leverkusen vs FC Koln

Dortmund vs Mainz

RB Leipzig vs Dusseldorf

Preview

This is a big night for Dusseldorf and Mainz as they look to avoid automatic relegation. It is looking likely that one of them will have to play-off for their Bundesliga status but having seen Werder Bremen lose on Tuesday night there is the chance to all but secure avoiding automatic relegation with wins here. Both face tough road trips though. Mainz head to take on the side in second Borussia Dortmund while Dusseldorf face a tricky trip to take on RB Leipzig who will secure Champions League football next season with a win.

It is also a big evening for Bayer Leverkusen. They will secure Champions League football next term if they can see off FC Koln, while in the other two matches, Eintracht Frankfurt play host to Schalke in the early kick off with the home side looking to maintain their recent resurgence while Augsburg meet a Hoffenheim side who can take the lead in the race for the final spot in Europe next season with victory.

Betting

I’ll go with one bet on Wednesday evening and it comes from the Bay Arena where I’m expecting to see a few goals between Bayer Leverkusen and FC Koln. Koln are playing for pride pretty much now so they can express a bit of freedom and look to entertain. To be fair to them they have been doing that ever since the action returned anyway so there should be no reason to think they won’t continue to adopt that policy here.

They might just be ripe for this Leverkusen outfit though. Koln have had real struggles defensively since the restart and this exciting Leverkusen team have more than enough firepower to feast on that, whether Kai Havertz is in top form or not. There is an openness about Leverkusen defensively though and Koln have the attacking unit to make the most of that. We should be treated to a few goals in this one and I like over 3.25 here.
