2019-20 Premier League – Saturday 21st December Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The last round of Premier League matches prior to Christmas begins on Saturday afternoon, as seven games take place in the top flight, as we move to within a game of the halfway mark in the top flight campaign.

The only two realistic pursuers of Liverpool meet in the pick of the matches on Saturday and with the leaders away in Qatar, someone will close the gap on them and give themselves a nice early Christmas present.

Early Kick Off

We actually begin at Goodison Park where two new managers will be overlooking their sides when Everton take on Arsenal. Everton will have the newly appointed Carlo Ancelotti in the stands watching their worth, while the Mikel Arteta era at the Gunners kicks off in this game. Both teams need a win for their own objectives as well as to get in the good books of their new boss so this one might be pretty competitive all of a sudden.

3pm Matches

Five games kick off in the usual kick off slot on Saturday afternoon with the pick of them coming from Villa Park where the two teams either side of the relegation line meet as Aston Villa host Southampton in a huge game for both sides. Norwich City will look to close the gap on whoever loses when they host Wolverhampton Wanderers at Carrow Road.

There are three other matches which all have issues on the centre of the table. Sheffield United will look to continue their good form when they make the trip to a wet Amex Stadium to take on Brighton and Hove Albion while injury ravaged Bournemouth host Burnley. The other match comes from St James’ Park where Newcastle United host Crystal Palace with the winners possibly going into the top six at the end of the day.

Late Game

There is no doubt which match is the pick of the games across the action on Saturday. It is the last match which comes from the Etihad Stadium as the champions Manchester City host a very dangerous Leicester City side, who have the chance to really showcase themselves as genuine title challengers this season. The draw does neither of these sides any good so hopefully we are going to get a very open contest in which plenty of goal action is created.

Betting

I’ll go with the one bet on Saturday afternoon which comes from the Amex Stadium where I’m expecting both sides to find the back of the net. There is no doubt this Brighton and Hove Albion side are finding more goalscoring opportunities under Graham Potter, but with that comes a deficiency at the back which makes them a little vulnerable, even if they are better to watch for it for the neutral.

Sheffield United rarely take a backward step when they go forward and as a result they have scored in seven of their eight away matches this season. The Blades are now in such a position in the league that they can relax and enjoy themselves and I expect them to do just that here. The 4/5 on both teams to find the back of the net looks perfectly acceptable here.
