2019-20 Premier League – Saturday 29th February Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The Premier League weekend continues with just the five matches on Saturday after one fixture fell by the wayside with Aston Villa competing in the Carabao Cup Final on Sunday afternoon. That leaves a bit of a hole in the card but we do still have the leaders in action.

There might be a shortage of games but we still have the usual three kick off times that a Saturday brings. Liverpool will look to extend their lead in the later of those while the first is a spicy little affair to get us going.

Early Kick Off

The action begins at the Amex Stadium where Brighton and Hove Albion take on Crystal Palace in the latest staging of one of the stranger derbies in the country. They might be miles apart but there is history there and the two clubs don’t like each other. When you add into the mix that neither team are completely safe from the drop and we should get something very tasty in which to start off the day with.

3pm Matches

There are only three matches in the usual kick off slot on Saturday with one of them coming from St James’ Park where Newcastle United will host Burnley in a match the home side could do with winning to ease any pressure that is growing on them. Bournemouth host Chelsea in a big game for both teams and their respective quests but all eyes might be on the London Stadium where West Ham United go in search of an elusive and much needed win when they host Southampton.

Late Game

The action then concludes at Vicarage Road where the champions elect Liverpool will look to break the record for consecutive Premier League victories when they take on a Watford side who caused them plenty of issues in defeat at Anfield earlier in the season. Watford will be determined to get something from this match to boost their hopes of staying in the division while Liverpool will want to go three points closer to their first Premier League title.

Betting

I’ll go with two bets on Saturday where two prices are staggering. How Brighton and Hove Albion can be as short as they are having not won a single game in 2020 I’ve no idea. Even if they win this match the price is all wrong. They might have a pretty style but no win this calendar year says Crystal Palace have to be taken even if they are missing a few players. Palace are generally decent on the road and they’ll be able to allow Brighton to have the ball and then hit them on the counterattack which is exactly how they like to play and when they are most effective. You can get a more than attractive price on Palace on the +0.5 Asian line and that will do me.

West Ham United just have to be taken on too. There is so much pressure on them to win this match given what they have coming up and we saw against Brighton a few weeks ago that there is a part of them that have forgotten how to win. Southampton are being seen as this perfectly winnable game but actually they are one of the best away sides in the division and they are in excellent form at the minute. Southampton are even an outside shot for a place in Europe if they put successive wins together from here. West Ham have a few injuries and they have too many attacking players out of form for my liking. Southampton are outsiders on the level ball handicap and that’s just wrong. They should be favourites for me so I’ll take them here.
