2019-20 Premier League – Saturday 8th February Matches Tips and Betting Preview

With the first winter break in the Premier League beginning this weekend, there are just two matches in the top flight on Saturday, predictably in the two televised kick off slots, on what is an eerily quiet day of action.

We have to wait until later in the weekend for one of the top side to be in action but we do at least have what should be a couple of competitive matches to keep us entertained across the course of the day on Saturday.

Everton vs Crystal Palace (12.30)

The opening match of the weekend sees an Everton side who have improved in recent times, taking on a Crystal Palace outfit who have gone the other way over the last month or so, and who will be wanting to arrest that slump.

Everton are undoubtedly going the better of the two teams at the minute but I always think Palace are better on the road than at home so I’m reluctant to take them on. That said they don’t score enough goals for my liking so I’m not in any mad rush to back them either. No result here would truly surprise me which means that I’ll sit this one out and wait for the later game for a punt.

Brighton and Hove Albion vs Watford (17.30)

The second match of the day will have plenty of implications on the bottom of the table when Brighton and Hove Albion take on Watford in a match both will be determined to win but neither will want to lose.

Brighton go into this match as the favourites to come out on top but they have actually only won one of their last 10 matches in the Premier League so as much as I dislike their visitors being a Luton fan, I can’t be backing the home side here. Watford have just tailed off in the last couple of weeks so I’ve little interest in backing them but given that this is a match neither will want to lose I do expect to see some goals here. There is a theory that when poor teams meet the goals come along but I actually think it is the state of the position of both in the table which will see the net bulge a few times here. Over 2.5 goals is a shade under evens but that looks good to me with both defences questionable to say the least.
