The Championship continues this weekend with the first two fixtures of another round of games taking place on Friday night, as we head towards the final third of the campaign in the second tier competition.
One of the two matches is live in front of the Sky cameras while it is the club feeds and highlights for the other one on an evening where the bottom end of the table is more in the spotlight than the top part.
Derby County vs Stoke City
The live game comes from Pride Park where Derby County will look to bounce back from a disappointing week when they take on Stoke City in a match I would imagine both sides will feel they can come out on top in.
I saw Derby in the flesh on Tuesday night and I maintain what I’ve said about them all season. They are not a good side and I expect them to continue to struggle. They have a couple of issues here. Firstly they played on Tuesday night and haven’t had much recovery time and secondly they will be without left-back Max Lowe who had a brain freeze in that game and got sent off. I’m not sure I rate Stoke much higher but Michael O’Neill is getting a tune out of them that others couldn’t and given that their only loss in six came at Fulham and that they’ve had double the recovery time since their last outing, the Potters make sense on a draw no bet line.
Cardiff City vs Reading
With the rugby kicking off on Saturday, Cardiff City have been shunted down to the Friday night for a clash they will be expecting to win against a Reading team who are the very meaning of the term hit or miss so far this season.
Cardiff had a great win over West Brom in midweek and that is something to build on but I must say they don’t really convince me at present. Reading don’t really do a whole lot for me either. Both these teams have the potential to be tough to beat which doesn’t make betting that easy, unless you are a draw backer, which in the main I’m not, so this one is a pretty easy game to give a swerve to with betting focus just remaining with the live game.
