The Championship reaches its halfway mark this weekend and the round of matches continues on Saturday afternoon with another bunch of big games, as we head towards what will be an important Christmas period.
We have a televised offering to get us up and running on Saturday and then there are a bunch of games which carry a fair deal of importance for those who are involved in them, on another big day of second tier action.

Big Matches
The TV game comes from Wales as Cardiff City host a Preston North End side whose position in the table is not reflected by their form on their travels, which makes that one an interesting battle. There is no doubt which is the biggest match of the afternoon though. That is the one at Craven Cottage as two of the best sides in the division battle it out when Fulham host Leeds United in a clash between two teams who will be all out to be back in the Premier League come the end of the season.
Best of the Rest
There is another appealing match over the course of the afternoon as the leaders West Bromwich Albion takes on one of the better teams to watch in the league in Brentford. At the other end of the table Luton and Huddersfield will look to pull clear of danger when they host Swansea City and Nottingham Forest respectively while Derby County are the visitors to a Reading team who will also desire the three points. Millwall will look to continue their improvement under Gary Rowett when they entertain bottom side Barnsley.
Betting
I’m conscious that the next two weeks are massive in terms of Championship betting with four sets of matches inside 10 days so I’m not going to go too mad to begin with as we have plenty of chances to accumulate some nice profit. There is one that I like on Saturday which I’ll get after and then wait my turn for other opportunities over the festive period.
The bet I like is over 3 goals in the match between QPR and Charlton Athletic. These two sides are no stranger to goals in their matches. There have been 77 in the 22 QPR games this term at an average of 3.5 per match while there have been 58 in the Charlton outings this term as well. I see no reason why either trend is going to change here in a London derby in which both sides will feel they can win. I’ll play the over 3 in this one.
