The schedule in the Championship is about to get frenetic and furious and the first of four successive midweek cards gets underway on Tuesday evening, when seven of the 12 matches take place with some key games in among them.
We see most of the promotion chasers in action on Tuesday night as well as a few of the sides looking to avoid relegation, so as with every other card between now and the end of the season, this one has all the potential to be full of drama.
Tuesday’s fixtures are as follows: (UK kick off and TV in brackets)
Millwall v Swansea City (17.00 – Sky Main Event/Sky Football)
Barnsley v Blackburn Rovers (18.00)
Cardiff City v Charlton Athletic (18.00)
Reading v Brentford (18.00)
Queens Park Rangers v Fulham (18.30)
Leeds United v Luton Town (19.45)
Wigan Athletic v Stoke City (19.45)

Big Matches
In terms of the television the big match on Tuesday evening comes from The New Den where two sides chasing a spot in the play-offs collide when Millwall take on Swansea City in a match where both teams will want to put disappointing weekend results behind them. The other big match on the card comes from Elland Road where the leaders Leeds United host second from bottom Luton Town, who are in decent form making the trip to Yorkshire.
Best of the Rest
There is a big match down the bottom of the table when a Wigan side who are flying host a Stoke City team who certainly aren’t. Barnsley dropped to the foot of the table at the weekend and will be looking to come off it when they entertain Blackburn Rovers while there is a London derby between QPR and Fulham at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium as two teams who haven’t got started since the restart battle it out. The other two matches sees Cardiff City hosting Charlton Athletic and Reading taking on promotion chasing Brentford.
Betting
I’ll go with a couple of bets over the course of the night in the Championship. The first one comes from Wales where I fancy in form Cardiff City to get the better of Charlton Athletic. Charlton have come out of lockdown with a couple of 1-0 wins to their name but in Hull City and QPR you have to question what they have beaten. They go up a level or two in opponent here it had to be said. Cardiff have also won both their matches since lockdown, won them more convincingly then Charlton and in Leeds United and Preston North End have beaten much better opposition. Cardiff look to be playing some really nice football at the minute and with Charlton being flattered by their wins I’m on the home side here.
I’m tempted to back Wigan Athletic to beat Stoke City at an outrageous price but these are weird times so I’ll take them on the draw no bet line instead. I don’t get how this match can be a level ball handicap. Wigan are on fire at the minute and have been for a while. They haven’t conceded a goal in their last six and have only lost one of their last 11 either side of lockdown. Stoke haven’t really got going after lockdown yet and they were incredibly ordinary in a defeat to Middlesbrough on Saturday. Add to that they will be without Nick Powell for a sending off which actually probably shows where the Potters are at right now and I like the home side here. It is ludicrous that Wigan aren’t comfortable favourites for this match. I’ll take advantage of that by snapping them up on the draw no bet line.
