It is semi-final day in the China Open on Saturday with both matches being played over two sessions of what should be wonderful action as places in one of the most lucrative finals of the season is up for grabs.
We have ditched the race to six and gone up to the best-of-19 frames for these semi-finals with both matches playing out in both sessions across what is an eagerly anticipated Saturday out in the Chinese city.
Neil Robertson vs Luca Brecel
The pick of the two semi-finals sees Neil Robertson looking for a spot in an unprecedented fourth successive final for him when he goes up against Luca Brecel who will secure one of his biggest pay days should he win this match.
Robertson has been in insane form this week and has won his last 17 frames going into this final which is quite a remarkable effort but Brecel had slammed in three centuries before he went for his mid0match cup of coffee against Alan McManus so he is clearly loving life at the minute as well. You have to think we are set up for a brilliant semi-final between two of the best in the game to watch.
I wanted to get on the centuries here but at 4/6 they can keep that, however the 12.5 50s at even money is much more my cup of tea. Brecel made a 50 break in every frame he won on Friday while Robertson has scored as well as ever all season. There shouldn’t be many frames without a 50 here and at even money it is an easy bet.

Jack Lisowski vs Scott Donaldson
Two men looking for their biggest pay day go up against each other in the second semi-final on Saturday when Jack Lisowski, so close to emulating his good friend Judd Trump and making this his first ranking event title, goes up against Scott Donaldson for a place in Sunday’s final.
Donaldson heads into this match as the underdog but he knows if he can pull off two surprise results he will be in the top 16 and straight through to the Crucible Theatre later in the month. Lisowski has been knocking on the door of a title for much of the season and I think everyone is wondering if this will be his week finally.
Donaldson actually has a good record against Lisowski though and has been in pretty decent form this week. I’m not as confident with Jack when he’s a huge favourite so I wouldn’t be surprised to see this one go closer than it is expected to. Lisowski might still win but I don’t see him having it all his own way here. I think over 16.5 frames is very much the way to play what could be a tight and nervy contest.
