2019 Royal London One Day Cup – Sunday 21st April Matches Betting Preview

The third day of matches in the Royal London One Day Cup takes place up and down the country on Sunday, and with the weather once again set to be perfect for cricket there is a feeling that this could be a huge day in the competition.

Both group tables are beginning to take shape and those who haven’t made a good start are probably drinking at the last chance saloon here while those who have begun well will have the chance to enhance their knockout claims.

North Group

There are a couple of local derbies in this group on Sunday with the big match coming from Headingley as Yorkshire host Lancashire in the first Roses clash of the season. Derbyshire play host to Nottinghamshire in the other derby match on the afternoon while our pre-tournament pick Worcestershire make the journey to Grace Road to take on Leicestershire. Northamptonshire are one of those sides desperately needing a win and they host Warwickshire who tied their first game in the group.

South Group

There are only three matches in the South Group so the six sides in action will be looking for two valuable competition points with Glamorgan hosting Somerset at Cardiff in one of them. Middlesex will be looking to continue their good start to the campaign when they host Gloucestershire at Lord’s while struggling Kent take on a Sussex team who will be looking to build on their win over Surrey when the two meet at Beckenham.

Betting

There are a few teams who I think will win on Sunday but they are too short to get into but there is one team who are a decent enough price to be backed so I will go into the day with just the one bet, but after a decent start to the competition and plenty more matches to get stuck into over the next couple of weeks I’m fine with that.

I really don’t see how Sussex are 9/10 to beat Kent. This isn’t the Kent team that made the final of this competition last season. They are without three huge batsmen in Heino Kuhn, Joe Denly and Sam Billings and there is no Matt Henry or Mitch Claydon with the ball either and we saw the result on Friday when they were never in the match against Somerset. Sussex had a really good win over Surrey on Friday and you get the feeling there is more to come from them too. This is likely to be a batsman’s game but that won’t hurt Sussex but they have enough with the ball to secure the win at a barmy price.
