2019 Specsavers County Championship – Monday 17th June Matches Betting Preview

While the attention is understandably on the Cricket World Cup, there are four more matches getting underway in what is becoming a fascinating Specsavers County Championship on Monday, with action across both divisions taking place.

In the first division it is largely about the battle to avoid the drop while in the second tier the tussle to get into the mix for that promotion to the top flight takes centre stage even though we are without some of the heavyweight sides battling it out.

Division One

Two of the bottom three meet at Tunbridge Wells where Kent play host to a Nottinghamshire side who have really disappointed so far this season and of whom you wonder if there are things going on behind the scenes such has been how poor they have been. The other match could have big implications at both ends of the table when Yorkshire take a rare First-class match to the city of York when they entertain Warwickshire.

Division Two

The main game in the second division this week comes from Derby where Derbyshire, enjoying a decent campaign with a couple of wins to their name thus far, host the undefeated leaders Lancashire. The other match sees two sides who need to get on a winning run battling it out when Leicestershire welcome Gloucestershire to Grace Road in what could be a decent contest if the weather plays ball.

Betting

I like Gloucestershire this week I have to say. They are still unbeaten this season with the weather doing them no favours but the reason why I like them is that Leicestershire are struggling with the bat. Only once this season have they made 300 with the bat and that was only 302 exactly. Their last five innings have been 120, 168, 288, 151/5 and 36/3 which isn’t going to win many matches or even have sides under pressure too often.

Gloucestershire have been up to and past 350 three times this season already, including last week, and the week prior to that they were probably shading things against Lancashire who look the best side in the competition. One or two bowlers are just starting to find their groove and with their batsmen delivering the goods I expect Gloucestershire to go very close here should the weather stay kind.
