The Vitality Blast continues on Sunday afternoon with four more matches in the competition as the event begins to get established. We have games in both groups over the course of the day with the points gaining importance.
It is the women’s T20 which has the TV treatment on Sunday so we are left with the live streams and the social media feeds for keeping up to date with the action. Most of the games are at grounds with streams which is helpful.
North Group
Most of the action comes from the North Group where the leaders Lancashire take on Derbyshire at the County Ground in Derby. The defending champions Worcestershire are back in action on Sunday night too when they look to put their horror show against Lancashire behind them as they host a Durham team with a couple of convincing wins and a big defeat. The other match in the group sees Northants and Yorkshire taking each other on at Wantage Road with a place in the top four at stage for the winner.
South Group
There is only the one match in the South Group and it comes from Taunton where Somerset, who suffered back-to-back defeats since their opening win, take on a Sussex side who are undefeated in the tournament with a win, a washout and a tie. Whoever wins what looks like the match of the day on paper will finish the day inside the top four so there is plenty at stake in this one.
Betting
There are a couple of bets I like over the course of the day and they both come from Taunton where Somerset take on Sussex. I like the visitors to win this one. I can’t lie, Somerset’s bowling scares me to death with the amount of runs they concede and while they have a dynamic and potent batting line up I’m not convinced they are going to have it all their own way against a Sussex bowling attack which is as legit as any in the tournament. Sussex might still be a genuine batsman light but having Alex Carey available for the first time this season will certainly help with that. Ultimately it is the bowlers who win matches in this format and the Sussex attack has much the better quality in it.
Lewis Gregory is having a fine season and I’m a little surprised that his performance line is only 38.5 for this match. He bowls his four overs at key times in the innings and then gives it plenty of Reggie Biffington in his batting innings. He will go up the order if needed so he’ll definitely bat, and as captain he’ll field in some key areas too. An average day gets him up to 39pts and a good day with either bat or ball does too so I’m happy to take the over here even though I see his side losing the match.
