2020-21 Premier League – Monday 21st December Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The last day of Premier League football prior to Christmas comes along on Monday when the final two matches of the weekend gets played out on an evening where we look to have a couple of competitive matches to enjoy.

We’ve seen some great action so far this weekend with a load of goals among the matches that have taken place already and hopefully that is what we get more of over the course of the three hours of football on Monday night.

Where to watch

Both the matches will be screened live on the Sky Main Event and the Sky Premier League channels as part of the Monday Night Football programme. That begins at 5pm with the matches kicking off at 5.30pm and 8pm.

Burnley vs Wolverhampton Wanderers (17.30)

The opening match of the night comes from Turf Moor and sees an improving Burnley side taking on an up and down or hit and miss Wolverhampton Wanderers side who are lacking the consistency we associate with them at present.

Burnley now have just one defeat in their last six matches, which was away at Manchester City which I keep repeating is a horrendous match for them, and they also have four clean sheets in that time so after a tough start to the season they are beginning to get it together. In an ideal world they will find the back of the net more but having got that defensive solidity back they can get working on that now. Wolves had a fine win over Chelsea in midweek and will be looking to build on that. They will be confident of getting something from the game but in truth nothing really stands out in terms of a bet here.

Chelsea vs West Ham United (20.00)

The final match before Christmas is a good old London derby as Chelsea host West Ham United in what should be fiercely competitive despite fans no longer being allowed inside Stamford Bridge for the contest.

Chelsea looked to be progressing nicely but things have come to a halt over the last week with successive defeats so they will be eager to be opening their presents later in the week off the back of a win. West Ham are one of the surprise packages this season and sit in the top half of the table and will move up to sixth in the standings if they are able to come away with the three points in this match.

I’m expecting a bit of an entertaining contest here. Chelsea have to win having fallen off the pace in recent weeks while West Ham have only lost to Manchester United and Liverpool in their last 10 matches and have scored in every game since the opening day of the season. West Ham won both matches against the Blues last term so they’ll be confident here and Chelsea might be fired up as a result. The only game at the Bridge this season not to have three or more goals came against the top two going into the weekend – Liverpool and Spurs. I expect this to be the latest one with plenty of goals.
