Preview

The best match of the day, at least in terms of watchability, could be the first one of the day where two contenders for the top four meet at the King Power Stadium when Leicester City host the current champions Liverpool who will be looking to rebound from their defeat to Manchester City last week. Once they are done we move to the capital where Crystal Palace will also be looking to respond to a defeat last time out when they welcome a Burnley side who might see this as a great chance to ease further clear of the bottom three.

The other match which stands out on the day is the third one which sees the seemingly unstoppable force of Manchester City looking to take another step closer to another Premier League title when they welcome Jose Mourinho and his Tottenham Hotspur side to the Etihad Stadium. We then conclude on the south coast when the in form Brighton and Hove Albion take on one of the surprise packages of the season in Aston Villa.

Betting

I’ll go with a couple of bets over the course of the day with away sides very much in my focus. Given that we have all the draw cover we need at Selhurst Park I’m more than happy to get involved in Burnley to see off Crystal Palace. I don’t need to regurgitate statistics, it is the worst kept secret in the world that Palace are terrible without Wilfried Zaha and we saw evidence of that against Leeds on Monday night where woeful didn’t do the Eagles justice on the night. Burnley are doing what Burnley do. They started slowly but have picked up since then and while their ledger shows two defeats in their last three, they are never going to cope with Manchester City and Chelsea. This is a much more winnable game and it is these matches where they are starting to shine. Palace are so much weaker without Zaha that Burnley are almost an obvious bet here.

Aston Villa have been one of the sides of the season and I expect to see why down at the Amex Stadium on Saturday night. To be fair to Brighton and Hove Albion they are a better side than their league position suggests but they have two fundamental issues which is holding them back. They don’t convert nearly enough chances and their home form is absolutely terrible even allowing for their win over Spurs in their last home game. To be fair to Brighton they’ve only conceded two goals in their last six and have wins over Tottenham and Liverpool in that time but they just don’t convince me on their own patch. Villa are a bit of a weird side when you consider they have only draw two of their 21 matches and of their 11 wins 10 of them have come without conceding, but that highlights that they don’t give up chances too often and when they do they have an extremely reliable custodian between the sticks. Ultimately I think this one could come down to class and I just think in Grealish, McGinn, Traore, Barkley and Watkins et al, Villa just have too much of it. This could be tight though so again I’ll keep the draw out of the game.
