The spread out Premier League weekend continues on Saturday when two more matches take place, both of which have a bearing on the bottom end of the table but one could also go a way to determining the Champions League qualifiers too.
We might only have the two games because of the FA Cup semi-finals but both of them are live on TV to be watched with the first in the afternoon and the second coming deeper into the evening on a defining day in the top flight.
Newcastle United vs West Ham United (12.30 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)
The opening match of the day is the one which will impact things at both ends of the table as Newcastle United look to pull further away from the relegation zone when they host the Champions League chasing West Ham United at St James’ Park.
Newcastle had a good come from behind win against Burnley last week and with some good attacking players coming back they will be confident of avoiding the drop despite their tough season. They will need to be at their best here though to contain a very confident and good to watch West Ham side, who have flown into 3-0 leads in each of their last three matches. They are scoring for fun but there is a vulnerability about them which makes them so good to watch.
I expect to see goals in this one. Both teams will be keen for the win for their respective needs. Jesse Lingard has made a massive difference to West Ham going forward while Allan Saint-Maximin and Callum Wilson will do the same for Newcastle. There should be an openness about this one with both going after the three points so over 2.5 goals will do me nicely in the early kick off.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Sheffield United (20.15 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)
The second match of the evening could be the one which confirms the relegation of Sheffield United when the Blades travel to Molineux to take on a Wolverhampton Wanderers side who will be after another three points for their slate.
The equation is simple for Sheffield United. If they are to take their survival ‘battle’ if you can call it that, to another week then they have to match the result of Newcastle United from earlier in the day. If they fail to do that they will officially be a Championship club next season. Wolves have no issues in that regard but they do have some injury issues with Pedro Neto the latest to be added to a lengthening list of players confined to the treatment room now. These are two ordinary sides for me. One isn’t playing for anything and the other aren’t good enough to play for anything. We don’t need to waste time betting on this one.
