The action begins at Elland Road where Spurs will look to enhance their top four credentials when they take on a Leeds United side who have been dangerous throughout the campaign but might just have run their race this term. The second match of the day is the only one which has nothing on it from a competitive point of view. That sees already relegated Sheffield United hosting a Crystal Palace side who are just playing out time on the season.
The big match as ever is the third game of the day as Manchester City host Chelsea in a dress rehearsal of the Champions League final later in the month. Chelsea have already denied City a possible quadruple when beating them in the semi-final of the FA Cup last month and now they will be looking to put their title celebrations on hold. City will be crowned champions if they win. The action closes at Anfield where the ousted champions Liverpool host Southampton in a match the Reds must win to maintain their top four challenge.
Betting
There isn’t a whole lot that I like over the course of the day but I’m happy to chance Sheffield United to pick up a win in their match against Crystal Palace. Crystal Palace are perfectly safe and are going down the same route that they did when they were safe last season in that they are struggling for motivation and their performances have merited that. They have lost their three matches although they were to Chelsea, Manchester City and Leicester City.
Sheffield United have been terrible all season but they will probably want to prove that they did belong at this level and the players who go onto the pitch for them will want to show that they are the ones to bring them back to this level in the Championship next season. I don’t think either team have had the season they would like but I think Sheffield United have a little more to play for over the remainder of it and that can yield a result here.
