2020-21 Premier League – Sunday 17th January Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The Premier League weekend continues on what looks to be a tantalisingly good Sunday with four of the best teams in the league on show on a day where we might get a clearer picture of where the title could go this season.

One fixture stands out from the three that are on show but there is a story and plenty of interest in all three matches, each of which can be viewed live on TV for those of us who are in the UK – a perfect tonic for a Sunday in lockdown.

Where to watch

All three matches are live on the Sky Sports Main Event and the Sky Sports Premier League channels with the programme beginning at 1pm and going right the way through to 10pm.

Fixtures

Sheffield United vs Tottenham Hotspur (14.00)

Liverpool vs Manchester United (16.30)

Preview

The action begins at Bramall Lane where Sheffield United will be hoping Premier League wins come along like London buses after getting their first one in midweek. They have seen two relegation rivals win this weekend already so will be eager for a result against a Tottenham Hotspur team who could do with getting back to winning ways themselves after being held by Fulham in midweek in a match where they looked pretty ordinary.

We then go to the match of the day where the top two going into the weekend meet when second placed Liverpool host the leaders Manchester United. Liverpool will go back to the top with a win here while United would go six points clear of the Anfield outfit if they come out on top and would be four points clear at the end of the weekend. The action concludes with Manchester City looking to fire themselves right in the mix at the top of the pile. They play host to an in and out Crystal Palace side.

Betting

I’ll go with the one bet on Sunday and we have to wait until the final match of it for it to come along as Manchester City host Crystal Palace in a match where I expect to see a home win but I’m not sure we’ll look back on the contest as one to remember. To be fair to Crystal Palace they go to the Etihad Stadium having not lost on either of their last two visits, coming away with a 3-2 win in one of them, but the fact they played Thursday night and aren’t in the greatest form makes me think a repeat of that is unlikely.

City aren’t exactly putting sides to the sword for all their pretty play at the minute and although Palace got done by seven against Liverpool it is incredibly rare that they are opened up and taken to the cleaners so I’m not expecting bags of goals here, particularly with both teams backing up midweek efforts and therefore likely to rotate a bit. A City win with less than 3.5 goals feels like the way to play this one.

Tips

Back Man City to win and under 3.5 goals for a 3/10 stake at 2.20 with Boylesports
