The second weekend of action in the Premier League continues with a bumper Sunday where four matches will be played one after the other on what should be a wonderful day of football with some good teams in action.
We have a mixture of top sides and ones who will be hoping for the safety of the middle of the table this term in action and with all matches in September being televised we can sit back and watch every kick in all four of them.
Sunday’s fixtures are as follows: (UK kick off and TV in brackets)
Southampton vs Tottenham Hotspur (12.00 – BT Sport 1)
Newcastle United vs Brighton (14.00 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)
Chelsea vs Liverpool (16.30 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)
Leicester City vs Burnley (19.00 – BBC One)

Preview
The action begins at St Mary’s where Southampton don’t always play their best but after losing their opening match last week they will be looking to get their tally up and running for the season when they host a Tottenham side who also went down last week then laboured to a victory in Bulgaria on Thursday evening. Newcastle started their campaign off perfectly with a win at West Ham last weekend and they will be looking to stay perfect when they host a Brighton and Hove Albion team who offered a lot more than they got against Chelsea on Monday night.
It is Chelsea who play the hosts in the big match on Sunday afternoon when they host the champions Liverpool. Both sides rode their luck last week but they both have an early chance to lay down their title credentials here in a match which will have an enormous amount of attacking talent on the pitch. The busy day concludes at the King Power Stadium where Leicester City will look to build on a good win at West Brom last week when they welcome a Burnley team who will be playing their first Premier League match of the season here.
Betting
I’ll take a couple of bets on Sunday to hopefully back up the winners we had on Saturday. The first one is over 2.75 goals at Stamford Bridge where Chelsea host Liverpool in what should be an entertaining game. We saw last weekend that both these defences are not yet up to speed and we know there is a lot of attacking talent to take advantage of that. Last season I thought Chelsea were a good match for Liverpool because there was nobody to run in behind them but Timo Werner doing that should open up the space for the likes of Kai Havertz, Mason Mount and whoever else to exploit. Chelsea will never convince me defensively until significant reinforcements are made so I expect to see an attacking game here where over 2.75 goals can land.
The other bet I like is for Leicester City to beat Burnley. I think Burnley have a bit of a disadvantage here having not played last Saturday. We saw that with Manchester United on Saturday and it makes sense for the same lack of cohesion to be in the Burnley ranks here. Burnley did play in the Carabao Cup on Thursday night which might have helped them but they didn’t play a full strength side in that. The Clarets are missing some key players here with Ben Mee and Ashley Barnes out while James Tarkowski isn’t guaranteed to play. When you add in the fact that Burnley are perennially terrible starters to a season there is a lot to like about Leicester here. Leicester looked to put their poor back end to last season behind them and looked like the confidence unit we saw in the opening part of last term for much of that contest. With the advantage of having had a game at high intensity to their name and the danger they possess I expect a Leicester win here.
