Big Matches

Both ends of the table are in the spotlight in the televised Championship matches on Saturday afternoon. The first of them comes from The New Den where Swansea City will attempt to revive a promotion campaign which has absolutely died on its arse in recent weeks. They go up against a Millwall side with no pressure on them and nothing to lose. The other televised clash sees Sheffield Wednesday looking to build on their resounding win over Cardiff City last week and continue their attempt to beat the drop. They head to the capital to take on a QPR team who can also play with a bit of freedom.

Best of the Rest

Norwich City can actually secure their Premier League return on Saturday afternoon. For that to happen they would need to win away to Derby County and Swansea not to win the earlier kick off and Brentford to fail to win their clash away to Preston North End. Brentford simply have to win if they want to keep automatic promotion a realistic goal. At the other end of the table Wycombe Wanderers will go in search of a third win in a row when they host Luton Town while Rotherham United will be eager to beat Huddersfield Town and give themselves an outside chance of escaping the drop. Birmingham City and Coventry City can all but condemn the bottom three to relegation if they win their matches. Birmingham host Stoke City while Coventry travel to AFC Bournemouth.

Betting

I’ll go with one on Saturday afternoon with the bet coming from the Vitality Stadium where AFC Bournemouth host Coventry City. Only the top two have picked up more points on their home ground than Bournemouth this season whereas no team in the league have gained fewer points on their travels than Coventry City this term. That doesn’t always equate to a home win but given the class gap between the two I think it will here.

Although it seems a while ago, we should remember there was two divisions between these two last season and that is still relevant. Bournemouth are in receipt of the parachute payments and have kept a decent squad whereas Coventry are fighting hard to be able to establish themselves at this level. That showed in the reverse meeting between the two where Bournemouth cruised to a 3-1 victory. I expect that gap to be there again here.
