2020-21 Sky Bet Championship – Saturday 17th April Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The Championship weekend continues on Saturday with the kick off times switched away from the usual 3pm slot to avoid a clash with the funeral of the Duke of Edinburgh. With just three weeks of the season remaining every match is big from here on in.

There are eight matches in total over the course of the day with one of them on the television for us to enjoy in the UK. We have to wait until the evening for that to come along but the others all have their usual ways of keeping you informed.

Saturday’s fixtures are as follows: (12.30pm unless stated; UK TV in brackets)

Brentford v Millwall

Luton Town v Watford

Middlesbrough v Queens Park Rangers

Nottingham Forest v Huddersfield Town

Sheffield Wednesday v Bristol City

Stoke City v Preston North End

Swansea City v Wycombe Wanderers

Norwich City v AFC Bournemouth (20.00 – Sky Football)

Big Matches

It could be a special night for Norwich City on Saturday as they can crown their promotion when they play host to AFC Bournemouth. The Canaries will already be promoted if both Swansea City and Brentford drop points earlier in the day but even if they don’t a win for Norwich has them promoted. Bournemouth will have plenty to say about that though as they look for points to confirm their top six credentials. Earlier in the day Brentford host Millwall and Swansea City host rock bottom Wycombe Wanderers.

Best of the Rest

Second placed Watford travel to their rivals Luton Town for the first time in 15 years knowing they need to win to keep themselves in strong shape in the race for second place. At the other end of the table Sheffield Wednesday will look to find a result without manager Darren Moore when they host Bristol City. Huddersfield Town will look to pull away from the danger zone when they head to the City Ground to take on Nottingham Forest. Middlesbrough host QPR and Stoke City take on Preston North End in the other two matches.

Betting

After a winner on Friday night I will go with just the one bet over the course of Saturday and I don’t think anyone will be massively surprised to know that it involves Nottingham Forest in their match against Huddersfield Town. Regular readers will know that Huddersfield’s away form is wretched at best and I’m not expecting it to get any better here even though they are the ones who have something to play for in this match.

Forest are finishing the season with a bit of a flourish, which you would expect them to do under Chris Hughton who is surely building for a tilt at promotion next term. They have only lost one of their last six which was to the leaders Norwich City. They have held Brentford and beat Cardiff in that time too. The last time Huddersfield left the John Smith’s Stadium they shipped seven to Brentford and they were fortunate to get the home point they did against Rotherham last week. I don’t expect this to be 7-0 but if there is a winner I expect it to be the home side.
