Big Matches

The televised action comes from the Madejski Stadium on Saturday when the initial leaders of the division Reading will look to get their campaign back on track when they host a Bristol City side who have surged their way up to third in the table after taking 10 points from the last 12 available. The top two are also in action on Saturday afternoon when they both take on sides who were promoted into the division last season. Leaders Norwich City welcome Coventry City to Carrow Road while AFC Bournemouth make the trip to Yorkshire to take on Rotherham United.

Best of the Rest

Wayne Rooney will take charge of Derby County on his own for the first time on Saturday afternoon ahead of him expected to be given the job permanently in the week. They host a Wycombe Wanderers side who they will overtake if they can pick up the win. Watford are the other members of the top six who are in action on Saturday afternoon. They host Preston North End while the chasers including Middlesbrough, Stoke City and Millwall all face away trips to Huddersfield Town, Sheffield Wednesday and Birmingham City respectively.

Betting

I’ll go with one bet over the course of the afternoon on Saturday as these matches are getting harder to differentiate with the schedule as crazy as it is. That bet comes in the form of a Blackburn Rovers side I have rated all season and who I continue to rate having seen them with my own eyes last weekend. There are plenty of goals in this Blackburn outfit and you get the impression that as players return their defensive solidarity is going to improve as well.

They host a Barnsley team who to be fair have done well since the surprise exit of Gerhard Struber but they came up against Brentford in midweek and getting the run around from that outfit is not the best preparation to go and face the best attack in the league in terms of goals scored. Barnsley only have one win on their travels this season and that came at Derby County recently, but everyone is beating them at the minute so I’m not sure that carries a lot of weight. Blackburn look the real deal to me and I’m happy to be on them on a win line.

Tips

WON – Back Blackburn Rovers to beat Barnsley for a 3/10 stake at 1.85 with William Hill
