2020-21 Sky Bet Championship – Tuesday 12th January Matches Tips and Betting Preview

There are two rearranged matches in the Championship this week and they both take place on Tuesday evening as four sides look to better their position in the league table ahead of the full resumption of the division at the weekend.

Teams at both ends of the table are in action on Tuesday night but in terms of following the two games we will need to pay to watch them on the club websites or rely on social media updates as there is no TV coverage.

Luton Town vs Queens Park Rangers (19.00)

The first match of the two to kick off on Tuesday evening is the one at Kenilworth Road where Luton Town will attempt to get back into the top half of the table when they host a QPR side who will be looking to pull away from the danger zone at the wrong end of the standings.

Luton will be feeling very confident here. They had a good win in the FA Cup at the weekend where they were able to rest players, a victory which makes it seven games unbeaten at Kenilworth Road. It is nearly two years since Luton last lost under the Kenilworth Road floodlights too so there is a lot for the Bedfordshire side to feel confident about heading into this one. QPR in contrast went extra time with a classy Fulham outfit at the weekend and didn’t rest too many of their first team and two hours chasing shadows on a heavy pitch doesn’t feel like ideal preparation for this match. QPR haven’t won in nine in the Championship and their last win was only against a Rotherham side who don’t look completely up to the level.

Add into the mix that Rangers have only won one match on their travels this season, a win at a Derby side who were struggling rather than the one that has found form under Wayne Rooney recently, and you wonder how Luton are the price they are. In a normal season I’d be happy to back the Hatters to win the game but with all the football there has been and pitches not behaving how they should and the obvious Covid issues I’ll still back the home side, but with some draw cover.

Bournemouth vs Millwall (19.45)

The second match of the night comes from the Vitality Stadium where Bournemouth will look to move back into second place in the table when they host a Millwall side who will just be looking for some consistency to drag them up the league over the next few weeks.

Bournemouth go into this one as the odds on which is probably fair given how Millwall have struggled at times this season but Gary Rowett’s men can battle and have drawn more than their fair share of games so if they can get some sort of foothold in the contest it wouldn’t be the biggest surprise of all time if they ride it out. I’ve been burned backing Bournemouth at odds on this season already and have no huge desire to endure a repeat so I’ll leave this one alone.
