There is yet another midweek round of matches in the Championship this week and they get underway on Tuesday evening when half of the division are in action on what has the feeling of being another important night of action.
It is a good evening for those who like to watch their Championship action on the box because two of the matches are on the main Sky channels while the other four can be viewed behind the red button so you can watch your bets which is always good.
Tuesday’s fixtures are as follows: (7.45pm unless stated; UK TV in brackets)
Birmingham City v Norwich City (7pm)
Derby County v Huddersfield Town (7pm)
Middlesbrough v Bristol City (7pm)
Luton Town v Millwall (Sky Sports Arena)
Rotherham United v Nottingham Forest (Sky Main Event & Sky Football)
Wycombe Wanderers v Reading

Preview
Norwich City have the chance to move 10 points clear at the top of the table for 24 hours at the very least as they look to be cruising towards a return to the Premier League. They head to a team who could very well be going the other way in Birmingham City, who escaped the bottom three at the weekend but certainly aren’t out of trouble yet. Two sides who have a bit of a gap on the bottom three but aren’t safe either meet at Pride Park where Derby County host Huddersfield Town while Nigel Pearson will get a first look at his Bristol City side when they make the enormously long trip to Middlesbrough.
The two televised matches come in the later starts where two sides still deeply involved in the battle to avoid the drop battle it out at the New York Stadium where Rotherham United host Nottingham Forest while Millwall will look to continue their good upturn in form when they make the trip to Kenilworth Road to take on a Luton Town side who could do with a positive result after a performance at the weekend which their manager labelled as inept. The other match sees rock bottom Wycombe Wanderers hosting a Reading side who look to consolidate their top six credentials.
Betting
I’ll go with the one bet over the course of the evening and it comes from Pride Park where Derby County look to go nicely clear of the drop zone when they host a Huddersfield Town side whose struggles on their travels have been well-documented in these previews in recent weeks. The Terriers have picked up just three points from their last 10 away games – draws at Coventry, Wycombe Wanderers and Luton Town, the latter in which they were considerably second best but Luton couldn’t put them to bed.
Although Derby haven’t pulled completely away from the drop, they are in a much better position than when Wayne Rooney took charge and while they still have a few issues of their own on their travels, there appears to be no problems when they play on their own patch. They have only lost two of their last nine at home but have won the last three seeing off Bournemouth and Middlesbrough in that time. Huddersfield had a great win over Swansea at the weekend but Swansea suffered some key injuries in that game. That was in Yorkshire where Huddersfield aren’t too bad. It is a different story away from home though and as a result I think Derby win this.
