Preview

The three televised matches are all pretty important on Wednesday evening. The first of them comes from Carrow Road where the top two in the division meet as Norwich City host Brentford. Norwich have the chance to go 10 points clear at the summit with a win here but Brentford can reduce the gap to four points. Swansea City will be looking to close the gap on whoever drops points in that match when they head to the Bet365 Stadium to take on Stoke City while at the bottom end of the table the teams second and third bottom meet in a Yorkshire derby as Sheffield Wednesday host Rotherham United.

Watford will also be hoping to enhance their automatic promotion prospects when they take on a Wycombe Wanderers outfit who are staring an immediate return into the third tier in the face. Two other matches take place on Wednesday evening. A surging Barnsley side make the trip to the capital to take on QPR while AFC Bournemouth will look to increase their hopes of making the play-offs when they travel to Bristol City who have immediately shown signs of life under Nigel Pearson.

Betting

There is one bet I like the look of on Wednesday evening and it comes from Ashton Gate where Nigel Pearson has got an immediate tune out of his Bristol City side. They take on a Bournemouth outfit who have flattered to deceive a little bit too much for my liking this term, particularly on the road where apart from a pair of wins at St Andrews against struggling sides, they have only won two away matches all season. That doesn’t make them odds on shots for this one in my book.

Bristol City haven’t really found any consistency to their game this season. It was thought that injuries were a big reason why that was the case, and it might still be that, but it might also be that an inexperienced manager was unable to set his team up properly. If it was the latter they have rectified that issue and if it was the former that doesn’t appear to be hampering them too much given that they have won at Middlesbrough and Swansea City in their last two matches. The task now is for Pearson to turn their home form around and they have every chance of avoiding defeat against a side who don’t win as many as they should on their travels.
