The International Darts Open concludes on Sunday when the tournament plays down to a finish from the last 16 stage as the line up for the European Championship is finalised ahead of that event taking place next week.
The last 16 of the competition takes place on Sunday afternoon with the remainder of the tournament coming along in the evening session when the champion will be crowned. Once again time restrictions will deny us the chance to preview the latter stages of the event but we’ll get stuck into the afternoon action.
First Four Matches
The world number one Michael van Gerwen is te man who will be given the honour of getting the day underway when he faces the former world finalist Andy Hamilton before potentially the match of the round takes to the stage when James Wade meets Nathan Aspinall. Krzysztof Ratajski will then look to take another step closer to the title when he plays the home outsider Franz Roetzsch before we meet the halfway mark as Mensur Suljovic goes up against the classy former BDO star Jamie Hughes in another appealing match.
Later Four Matches
Two men who had big wins on Saturday night start off the second half of the action on Sunday when Ross Smith goes up against Max Hopp with both men knowing there is a big opportunity ahead of them. Dave Chisnall and Joe Cullen have both been in decent form recently and they meet in match six of the afternoon before Jesus Noguera goes up against Michael Smith. The afternoon session concludes with a battle between Scott Baker and Danny Noppert, two more men who have an opportunity to go deep staring them in the face.

Betting
I’ll go with one bet in the afternoon session on Sunday and it comes in the second part of the session when Max Hopp takes on Ross Smith in a contest I’m a little surprised the home favourite is the outsider in. Smith has made big strides this weekend, averaging 113 in winning his first round match and then beating Gerwyn Price in the second round on Saturday but Hopp has had a couple of decent wins himself and is much the better player of the two.
The German number one has beaten Jelle Klaasen and Jose de Sousa so far this weekend so he is clearly playing well at the minute and although I respect the form of Smith he isn’t likely to average 113 again and he isn’t used to backing up his form for a third successive day. Hopp has been the course and distance in these European Tour events in the past so he knows exactly how to come through this round. I’ll take him at odds against.

Back M.Hopp to beat R.Smith for a 3/10 stake at 2.25 with Boylesports
