The third night of the new event A Night at the Darts from the Modus team is the darting action over the course of Wednesday evening with the five men on show once again battling it out in their homes for points towards the overall table.
We saw the best session of darts so far on Tuesday evening and if that continues into the play on Wednesday we should be in for quite a few hours of darts as we head towards the halfway mark of this week’s fayre.

The Format
Each night from Monday to Saturday five men will battle it out in a round robin group with the overall champion being determined on Saturday May 2. Matches will see the players compete over the best of 9 legs with each of them at home in front of a webcam throwing at their own individual dartboards. Scores can be found on Dart Connect and the tournament will be streamed on the bookmaker live streaming consoles and for free on Dartslive.tv.
Tuesday Recap
It was David Evans who was in fantastic form on Tuesday evening, winning all four of his matches and registering two averages over the 100 mark in the process and he has surged clear at the top of the overall table as a result of that. Raymond van Barneveld was his nearest challenger on a night where the Dutch legend finally produced darts that we know he can. Wessel Nijman, Ritchie Edhouse and Scott Mitchell all came away with solitary wins.
It was a frustrating afternoon for us on Tuesday and that continued into the evening where the match bet on the Nijman and Evans match failed by one 180 when Evans had a bounceout with two in the 60 and another violent deflection with two darts already home. That has left us -10 for the event this week and in need of a change in fortunes on Wednesday.
Wednesday Line Up
We know the six men on show in this event now and have seen them all at least once. It is Raymond van Barneveld who is the player who is sitting out on Wednesday night, which is probably frustrating for him given that he finally offered up his best action of either week so far on Tuesday. Martin Adams returns to the show after his night off and he’ll battle it out against David Evans, Wessel Nijman, Ritchie Edhouse and Scott Mitchell for the Wednesday evening honours.

Outright Betting
I’ve not had a whole lot of luck or success with the group betting in this tournament so far but I do think there is a standout bet on Wednesday evening which comes in the form of David Evans, who looks too big to me at 7/4. He won all four matches on Tuesday night and there were just a few signs that Wessel Nijman is beginning to feel the pinch a little bit as he was beaten three times and averaged less than 92 in those defeats.
Evans has only lost one match in the two nights and has been on social media and podcasts explaining how he is enjoying the competitive practice and taking it seriously and that has certainly shown in his form, which has improved day on day. That match that Evans lost was 5-4 to Wessel Nijman on Monday so he’s won every leg open to him bar one. I don’t see Mitchell, Adams or Edhouse hitting those heights so unless Evans’ form suddenly dips he looks a good thing at 7/4.
Match Betting
I was hoping Raymond van Barneveld was in action here because he might well have been worth siding with in the match betting but he isn’t playing so that put paid to that. I’m tempted by Martin Adams to beat Ritchie Edhouse in the penultimate match of the night but I’m wary of the fact that Wolfie has had a night off. I think the odds are skewed a little too much in favour of Edhouse who has only won one match in eight so far.
I might well end up taking Adams in that one as the evening progresses but I’d like to see his form first. Given that it is his last match of the night you would think he would be hitting top form by then. It is one to keep on side but nothing else really takes my fancy over the course of the night so I’m going to keep my powder dry apart from siding with Evans to win the group for the second night in succession.
