2020 Vitality T20 Blast – Friday 28th August Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The second day of the Vitality Blast sees two matches taking place across two of the three groups as the four sides yet to get their 20 over campaigns underway get the opportunity to do so over the course of Friday.

The international T20 gets the televised treatment on Friday so we are restricted to the county live streams to witness the action, although they are much improved this season so that isn’t too bad. Unfortunately the weather forecast isn’t great.

Sussex vs Surrey (14.00)

The first of the two matches on Friday comes from the South Group where we have an afternoon clash between two sides who are fancied to go strongly over the course of the competition as Sussex take on Surrey.

Both these sides are missing some key players. David Wiese, Jofra Archer and Chris Jordan are all unavailable for Sussex while Surrey are going to have to do without Jason Roy, Tom Curran, Sam Curran, Ollie Pope, Reece Topley, Jade Dernbach, Rikki Clarke, Morne Morkel and Liam Plunkett among others so these are two patched up sides who will be taking to the field. At best though we’re only going to get a shortened game. That might favour Sussex but without knowing how a toss goes and things betting would be a lottery. That’s not for us at this stage of proceedings.

Birmingham Bears vs Somerset (18.30)

The other match comes in the evening where Edgbaston stages the match between the Birmingham Bears and Somerset, two sides who will have their eyes on at least the quarter finals and most probably a bit further in the competition than that.

As with the game above both teams are missing some big players. There will be no Chris Woakes and Olly Stone missing for the Bears while from last season the top run scorer Babar Azam, exciting opener Tom Banton and captain Lewis Gregory are all involved in the England vs Pakistan T20 series so once again there is an element of patched up sides on show here. The Bears aren’t as badly hit as Somerset so if the weather does clear up I might well get on them but at this stage the forecast is terrible for Edgbaston in the evening so betting seems pointless.
