2017 European Darts Grand Prix – Last 32 Betting Preview

The last 32 of the European Darts Grand Prix will be played out over two sessions of action on what promises to be another busy Saturday on the European Tour. This is the round where the real big names come into the tournament but the qualifiers have had a match on the stage and will be out to cause a shock or two.

Afternoon Session

The round of matches kicks off with a good looking match between Alan Norris and Jan Dekker before Cristo Reyes faces Ulf Ceder in a European clash. Dutchmen Jelle Klaasen and Dirk van Duijvenbode then meet before Simon Whitlock takes on Rob Cross. Dave Chisnall plays Superman himself Matt Clark and they are followed by Joe Cullen and Jonny Clayton. The afternoon concludes with Benito van de Pas against Joe Murnan and Kim Huybrechts meeting Max Hopp.

Evening Session

Two former major champions clash first up in the evening when James Wade takes on Mark Webster before Gerwyn Price and Dimitri van den Bergh meet. Michael Smith plays Steve West to follow that before Daryl Gurney faces John Henderson. Mensur Suljovic goes up against Krzysztof Ratajski and then the evening concludes with Peter Wright playing James Richardson, Michael van Gerwen facing Keegan Brown and then the tie of the round which is between Ian White and Adrian Lewis.

Betting

There are two bets for me in this round of matches and both are saved until the evening session. The first of them is Steve West who beat Michael Smith 6-1 a couple of months ago so at odds against he looks a decent price to beat him again. Both men reached a semi-final last weekend so they head into this event in good form but West continued that good form on Friday when he pinned six out of seven darts at a double in his win over Chris Dobey. A repeat of that could see him through here.

I can’t avoid a little dabble in the clash of the day either. Ian White is just overpriced for me against an Adrian Lewis who blows far too hot and cold for my liking at the minute. We saw just how hot and cold Lewis can be in the Premier League in the last few weeks and he wasn’t overly convincing in beating Stephen Bunting on Friday despite the scoreline. White will have long enough to prepare for this match and I think he could edge out his Stoke rival.
