The Vitality Blast has two more days of action before the pause for the last round of Bob Willis Trophy group matches and the first of those comes along on Friday when five more fixtures take place up and down the country.
We have matches in two of the groups on Friday but with the latest international series getting underway and taking the television slot, we are reduced to the live streams for this one. As though who have viewed them will know they are pretty good though so we can keep up with all the action.
Central Group
We have a couple of matches in the Central Group with all eyes probably on Bristol for the afternoon game which sees the 2018 champions Worcestershire heading to face Gloucestershire. The Rapids really need to win this match and get their campaign into life but Gloucestershire have won their last two and are starting to pick up a head of steam. The other match in this group comes much later in the day when Somerset look to back up their fine win on Thursday when they host a Birmingham Bears side who were ordinary at best in defeat to Gloucestershire on Wednesday night.
North Group
We have a full set of matches in the North Group on Friday and they get underway in the afternoon when Lancashire host Derbyshire at Liverpool. Nottinghamshire are currently on top of the North Group table but they won’t be at the end of the night if they lose to Leicestershire in the match of the day at Trent Bridge. The other match sees Yorkshire heading up the A1 to take on rock bottom Durham who are heading towards must win territory if they are going to have a say in qualifying for the knockout stages.

Betting
Two bets take my fancy over the course of Friday and they begin in the afternoon. Gloucestershire don’t actually have the greatest record at Bristol at the minute but that has to change soon and given that they’ve already taken Worcestershire to the cleaners once in this tournament I think the 5/6 on them rectifying their home form here looks a perfectly fair bet. Gloucestershire look to be in terrific form with the bat at the minute and that is key because their bowlers are usually hard to get away with their changes of pace and wicket to wicket plans. This Worcestershire attack looks battered and bruised both in personnel and performance at the minute and they have to back up here the day after going the distance at Edgbaston and that certainly isn’t going to be easy. Gloucestershire have to be the pick here.
The other bet that catches my eye on Friday comes at Trent Bridge where the 333.5 run line looks a little on the low side in the match between Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire. We’ve seen in the last few seasons that Leicestershire do not fear their rivals. They’ve actually won the last two meetings here at Trent Bridge and they’ve both been high scoring. I see no reason why this one won’t follow that trend because we saw earlier in the week that Leicestershire bat deep and they take the attack to the bowling. That is how Nottinghamshire have had their limited overs success as well so both sides shouldn’t be holding back here. Trent Bridge is a very high scoring ground in white ball cricket these days so I’m expecting the over to land here.
