2020 WDF Remote Darts League 2 – Tuesday 2nd June Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The Remote Darts League continues on Tuesday evening and with just six nights of action left in the regular season, every match in every session is gaining in importance and significance as the battle for the top four intensifies.

The field is really beginning to bunch up now so three wins in a night is beginning to look like gold dust for anyone who is fortunate to pick up such a return. That will be the aim of all four players on show on Tuesday.

The Format

The league phase of the competition will see the 16 players play each other once over the best of 10 legs across the first 20 nights of the season, with two points for a win and one for a draw. Four players play each night and compete in three matches in the sessions they play, so all 16 players will play in just five of the first 20 evenings of the campaign.

At the end of the league phase the top four will go into the playoffs on the final night where the semi-finals are played over the best of 15 legs and the winner will be determined over the best of 19 legs. The entire tournament is being streamed on the Remote Darts League YouTube channel and various bookmaker websites.

Monday Recap

It was John O’Shea who picked up those three wins on Monday night and in doing so he not only catapulted himself into semi-final contention but he went top of the table for a while. Before things became the John O’Shea show, Larry Butler got the night off to a winning start for him when he beat Laura Turner 6-1. That was the score that John O’Shea beat Tony O’Shea by before the latter drew 5-5 with Butler. John O’Shea then completed his night with a 6-0 win over Turner before edging out Butler 6-4. The night concluded with Tony O’Shea beating Turner 6-0.

It was yet another annoying night for us from a betting front. Larry Butler went toe to toe with John O’Shea in a match we only needed him to draw to bring our +1.5 leg handicap in. He got it to 4-4 and then missed a dart at tops to break the throw and bring the bet in during the ninth leg. Worse was to come as he was then unable to hold his throw in the final leg and we missed out on the win, much to our continued frustration!

Preview

This is a huge night for the three men. It is one which Paul Hogan has the chance to secure his semi-final spot with if he can pick up the three wins but Richard Veenstra and David Cameron will end the night in a good position if they can go through it with three wins. The pick of the matches comes first up when Veenstra takes on Hogan before Lorraine Winstanley bids to find her first win of the campaign when she faces Cameron.

Winstanley will stay on for the third match of the evening to face the exciting Dutch ace Veenstra before Cameron meets Hogan in what should be another entertaining game. The one match of the night that neither can afford to lose comes in the penultimate game of the evening here Cameron faces Veenstra before Hogan will round off the night against a Winstanley who has been more competitive than her results suggest thus far.

Betting

I’m getting a bit fed up with missed doubles costing us in this tournament so I’m off back to the 180s for a bet on Tuesday evening. Thankfully we have a number of good 180 hitters on show, not least in the form of the three men and it is two of those competing against each other which brings me to a bet I like. It comes in the fourth match of the night where David Cameron takes on Paul Hogan in what should be a great game.

It should also be a game where the scoring is pretty high on show too. Cameron has scored very nicely in this tournament so far. In the nine matches he has played so far the Canadian has hit 20 180s with one of the matches where he hasn’t hit at least two coming against Justin Thompson when he would have had no rhythm at all. Hogan has hit 15 in his matches so far and has hit two or more in every match against a man bar one which is significant. The 180 line for this match is 3.5 and with both throwing at a similar pace there should be a nice momentum to this game. Two decent scorers can cover that line.
