2020 WDF Remote Darts League 2 – Wednesday 27th May Matches Tips and Betting Preview

We have another night in the Remote Darts League season 2 on Wednesday as four more players once again take to their home oches in a bid for points to enhance their league position while keeping us entertained during lockdown.

The cream is beginning to rise towards the top of the table as we approach the halfway point in the regular season part of the competition and three men in particular will be looking to join the mix throughout the session on Wednesday.

The Format

The league phase of the competition will see the 16 players play each other once over the best of 10 legs across the first 20 nights of the season, with two points for a win and one for a draw. Four players play each night and compete in three matches in the sessions they play, so all 16 players will play in just five of the first 20 evenings of the campaign.

At the end of the league phase the top four will go into the playoffs on the final night where the semi-finals are played over the best of 15 legs and the winner will be determined over the best of 19 legs. The entire tournament is being streamed on the Remote Darts League YouTube channel and various bookmaker websites.

Tuesday Recap

Given the players who were involved on Tuesday night, it has to be said that the evening was a bit of a disappointment overall. It was devoid of close matches and there was only one 90+ average on the night. That came in the first match and belonged to Paul Hogan who saw off Justin Thompson 6-3 before Larry Butler whitewashed Stacey Pace 6-0. Pace then suffered the same fate against Hogan before Butler was beaten 6-3 by Thompson. The night ended with Hogan cruising past Butler 6-2 and Thompson predictably beating Pace 6-0.

It wsn’t much better from a betting point of view either. We had one bet on the night and it came in that match between Larry Butler and Paul Hogan. We wanted more than 3.5 180s and while Hogan delivered his two which was required, Butler couldn’t find the 60 range at any stage in the match so the bet went south annoyingly. Hopefully we can make up for that on Wednesday and beyond.

Preview

It is a big night Joe Chaney and David Cameron in particular on Wednesday. Both have the chance to make a move into the top four. Chaney will look to begin that move in the opening match of the night when he plays Tony O’Shea before David Cameron takes on Tina Osborne. Given the way the league table currently looks the pick of the matches on the night appears to be the one between Cameron and Chaney which takes us to the halfway point of the evening.

After that we will see Tina Osborne looking to show better form than we’ve seen from her thus far. She will go up against Tony O’Shea first before meeting Joe Chaney in what looks like being a pair of tough assignments. The action finishes for the night with a match between Tony O’Shea and David Cameron, which should provide some entertainment heading towards the witching hour in the UK.

Betting

I’ll go with the one bet in a bid to get the ship back on track on Wednesday night, although I am tempted by David Cameron in the final match of the night and if he has shown enough in his first two games I may well take him to deliver the goods in that too. I’ll initially flag up the one bet which comes earlier in the evening when Cameron takes on his fellow North American player Joe Chaney in what I suspect could be a high scoring match.

I always like it when two rhythm players play each other as there isn’t going to be any stopping and stalling and things so both these men should get into a nice groove. They have both shown they can score in this tournament as well. In their first six matches Cameron has hit 15 180s in this event and Chaney has hit nine. That makes me think the 2.5 180s line for this match is a bit on the low side. This shouldn’t be a one-sided whitewash so even if it ends 6-3 we only need a 180 every third leg. These two can perform to that ratio.
