2020 WDF Remote Darts League 2 – Wednesday 3rd June Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The penultimate set of matches in the Remote Darts League take place on Wednesday evening with the defending champion headlining what looks like being another good session of darts, as we head towards the conclusion of the campaign.

The intensity and competitiveness of the competition has gone up over recent nights and as we head towards finalising the semi-final line up that is unlikely to change between now and the weekend, so we have another good evening to look forward to.

The Format

The league phase of the competition will see the 16 players play each other once over the best of 10 legs across the first 20 nights of the season, with two points for a win and one for a draw. Four players play each night and compete in three matches in the sessions they play, so all 16 players will play in just five of the first 20 evenings of the campaign.

At the end of the league phase the top four will go into the playoffs on the final night where the semi-finals are played over the best of 15 legs and the winner will be determined over the best of 19 legs. The entire tournament is being streamed on the Remote Darts League YouTube channel and various bookmaker websites.

Tuesday Recap

In terms of averages and performances it was one of the best nights of the competition on Tuesday evening. That was to be expected with three high level men and the best woman in the tournament on show. It began with a brilliant match between Richard Veenstra and Paul Hogan which got the action underway. Veenstra took that 6-3 before David Cameron saw off Lorraine Winstanley 6-2. Winstanley then ran into an onslaught from Veenstra in a 6-1 loss before Hogan showed his class to whitewash Cameron. Cameron recovered his poise to beat Veenstra in the penultimate game before a 100+ average from Paul Hogan was enough to beat Winstanley 6-2.

This tournament is starting to frustrate me from a betting point of view as we lost another bet on Tuesday evening. This time we went on the 180s in the match between David Cameron and Paul Hogan and although Hogan did his half of the bargain with two 180s, despite hitting two maximums in his other two matches on the night, the Canadian couldn’t register any against Hogan so the over 3.5 line was not covered.

Preview

James Richardson will be looking to go back to the top of the table over the course of the night and he can get halfway there if he can see off Joe Chaney in the opening match of the night. Thibault Tricole will be hoping to make a move on the evening too and he will be expected to beat Stacey Pace before he goes up against the defending champion Richardson in one of the more appealing matches on the schedule overall.

The second half of the evening will be all about Stacey Pace and her quest to offer something resembling competitive showings. She will first of all go up against fellow American player Joe Chaney before the tough task of taking on the relentless Richardson. The night finishes off with the most important battle of the lot when Joe Chaney meets Thibault Tricole in a match neither can afford to lose if they want to keep their semi-final hopes in their own hands.

Betting

I’m a little bit surprised that Joe Chaney is the outsider in his match against Thibault Trciole. The rankings and everything else would suggest that the Frenchman is the better player of the two but what we have seen in this tournament, and given the different nature of everything that is largely the overriding barometer to compare the two with, suggests that Chaney is actually the one who is playing the better darts at the minute.

There is a lot riding on this match so I’m expecting a pretty competent showing from both men and a very competitive match but the difference could be that Chaney throws first therefore he has the chance to impose himself on the contest first. Given that he is the outsider, despite Tricole not averaging more than 77.79 on his last evening of action, I think the 11/10 on Chaney to win this match without the draw in play is a bet that is worth taking.
