The Vitality Blast continues on a scorching Sunday afternoon and evening as the competition really begins to pick up speed. Everyone has now started their campaign and teams are getting comfortable against the white ball which should make for some decent cricket.
Unfortunately these matches all clash with what was the scheduled day in the Test match so there is no TV coverage of them but the county streams are as good as TV coverage these days and all six matches are available on them.
North Group
There is a full set of matches in the North Group on Sunday afternoon with the top two meeting at New Road where Worcestershire in second play host to the leaders Lancashire. Durham have a perfect start having won their only match of the competition to date and they will head to Leicestershire looking to maintain that record. Two winless sides meet later in the day at Trent Bridge when Nottinghamshire take on Northamptonshire while the other match sees Derbyshire welcoming the Birmingham Bears.

South Group
Two matches make up the schedule in the South Group on Sunday afternoon with the earlier game coming from down in Cardiff where they probably don’t care about a clash with the football. The match sees Glamorgan playing host to Essex who have already shown their inconsistency in this competition. The later game once the football is done sees two of the better sides in the South Group battling it out at Canterbury where Kent play host to Gloucestershire.
Betting
I’ll go with just the one bet over the course of the day and it comes down in Wales where I think the odds are the wrong way around in the match between Glamorgan and Essex. I say that because of the performances of the two sides in a way but mainly because Essex are being really stretched squad wise. They looked a little light on genuine top quality anyway and although I’m not his biggest fan they are now without Adam Wheater who even if he is no good he is flexible in the batting order and offers a very young side some experience.
Glamorgan have only played one match in the competition which they lost by four runs to Gloucestershire but to be fair to them, but for one crazy over where they lost three wickets to Benny Howell, they would have chased a decent total down. It might be that Glamorgan’s bowling needs a bit of improvement but they have a couple of batsmen who can send an over down if they are getting stretched with the ball. In Colin Ingram, Marnus Labuschagne and Chris Cooke they have a pure power middle order though and that could be significant here. I just feel at 6/5 Glamorgan are being written off when you consider that they were much better in defeat in their one game than Essex were to Hampshire.
