The Vitality Blast continues on Thursday evening and it does so with four more matches as both groups head towards the halfway mark of the competition on a night where for the first time we might need to dodge a little bit of weather.
Although the women’s Test match is getting the TV treatment, there is Blast action on TV after that has finished so we have one game on there and the other three will be readily available on the county streams as always.
North Group
It is from the North Group that the TV action comes from as the cameras head all the way up to the Riverside for the clash between the Durham Jets and the third placed side Lancashire Lightning in a match where Lancashire can join Birmingham at the top should they win. Two of the stragglers meet in the other match when Derbyshire with one win to their name host Northamptonshire who have lost all three of their matches in a clash neither can really afford to lose.

South Group
Top spot in the South Group is up for grabs on Thursday evening when third placed Surrey host second placed Sussex in a match between the last two remaining unbeaten sides in the competition. The other match over the course of the evening sees Middlesex playing host to Gloucestershire at Radlett with both teams looking to come out of a huge pack of six teams who are currently tied for fourth in the table on two points.
Betting
I’ll go with a couple of bets on Thursday evening with them both coming in the North Group where I’m expecting plenty of runs. The first of those bets comes in the Derbyshire vs Northamptonshire match where both attacks are going around the park at the minute. Derbyshire only have one bowler in their midst going at less than 8.5 an over so far this season while Northants only have one main bowler under 8.5 an over as well. Both these teams bat very deep and the big outfield at Derby and the lightning fast nature of it usually accounts for plenty of runs. There have been 321 and 393 runs in the two matches at Derby this season with the first of those when a very good Birmingham attack was on show. This should be a high scoring match so I like over 319.5 runs here.
Lancashire are slightly harder to get away but they make up for that with an absolutely power packed top four that can destroy any bowling attack in the competition and although they can be hard to get away, a lot of their attack is based on spin and they won’t get any turn out of this square at Durham. I mentioned the other night how it has been relaid and is suddenly a featherbed and great for batting and Durham score well as a result of that. Durham only have one bowler that goes for less than eight an over but they also bat very deep. There have been two matches on this ground this season with 342 runs and 377 in them. I like over 330.5 here.
