Premier League – Sunday 18th September Matches Betting Preview

The latest set of Premier League matches come to an end on Sunday with four more matches in the league which dubs itself the ‘Best League in the World’. Among the four matches we have three in front of the various broadcasters’ cameras while one match doesn’t get the TV attention.

Watford vs Man Utd

The action begins at Vicarage Road as Watford look to stick another nail in Jose Mourinho’s heart. Mourinho isn’t used to losing so to do it three times in a week would be a real shock to the system. Watford are looking to build on their exciting win at West Ham last week.

The early signs this season are that Watford might be a little more attacking which is remarkable to think given that they have an Italian in charge. It might just be they have faced a couple of defensively awry sides and time will tell on that.

This isn’t a match I want to get involved with. United won’t have got back from Holland until the early hours of Friday morning and that isn’t the best preparation for a match like this but at the same time I don’t really want to take United on.

Crystal Palace vs Stoke

The first half of the Sky Super Sunday double header sees two struggling sides going at it. Crystal Palace go into the match off the back of a good win at Middlesbrough but with all respect in the world that isn’t a real standout statement like I would need them to make before I part with my hard earned on them.

Stoke go into this one off the back of an absolute going over by Spurs last week and that sort of performance and result is likely to leave a mark so I certainly couldn’t be taking them. I don’t fancy taking Palace either and I’ll resist the temptation to back the draw. No bet for me.

Southampton vs Swansea

All eyes will be on Southampton here to see how they cope with playing on Thursday night and then backing it up on the Sunday. It is never an easy thing to do and Thursday night wasn’t the easiest game on the legs so one or two might be feeling it.

Swansea should be buoyed by their result against Chelsea last week and I’m expecting them to build on that here. We saw in that match that they have plenty of spirit and heart and that is never a bad thing. Were Southampton to begin to look leggy or not be at it right from the start then Swansea can take advantage and lengthen the home side’s poor start to the campaign.

Tottenham vs Sunderland

Two sides who suffered disappointment in the last week round off the day at the Lane. Sunderland looked a shambles in a tame defeat to Everton on Monday night while Spurs offered little resistance to an organised but nothing special Monaco in the Champions League in midweek so both go into this with a point to prove.

I’m not going to hold a Champions League defeat against Spurs. Having waited so long to get back into the competition everyone could have been a little too amped up and unable to perform while Wembley is only ever going to inspire the opposition too.

In the league before that they looked irresistible at Stoke last weekend and if that Spurs show up here Sunderland are a tonking waiting to happen. I expect Tottenham to win this and unless Sunderland have sharpened up defensively in the last six days I expect the hosts to win this well too. From a betting point of view the only question I have is whether I think Sunderland will score. The answer is no so I’ll take Spurs to win to nil.
