Skybet League 2 – Saturday 19th November Matches Betting Preview

It is a big week in Skybet League 2 with three matches in eight days for all of the clubs and that run begins on Saturday when all 24 teams are in action. This table is absolutely crazy with just six points separating sixth place and the relegation zone so three points could be crucial for so many.

Saturday’s fixtures are as follows:

Accrington Stanley v Stevenage

Barnet v Crewe Alexandra

Cambridge United v Wycombe Wanderers

Carlisle United v Exeter City

Cheltenham Town v Portsmouth

Doncaster Rovers v Hartlepool United

Leyton Orient v Blackpool

Mansfield Town v Crawley Town

Morecambe v Luton Town

Notts County v Newport County

Plymouth Argyle v Grimsby Town

Yeovil Town v Colchester United

Big Matches

One of the matches of the day comes at Home Park as the leaders Plymouth welcome Grimsby to town. There is an awful lot of travelling for the clubs on Saturday and probably the lengthiest journey is the one Exeter will make to Carlisle. Doncaster host Hartlepool in a key game while fourth placed Portsmouth head to Cheltenham. Luton in fifth go up to Morecambe.

Best of the Rest

Leyton Orient and Blackpool will both feel they are too big for this division and they meet at Brisbane Road on Saturday while Steve Evans’ first game in charge of Mansfield Town will be against his former club Crawley Town. Cambridge and Wycombe are both at the wrong end of the table and meet each other.

Betting

I’ll pick and choose my bets carefully in this division this week. Going into the set of matches I thought about Plymouth and Luton but both are pretty short, too short in fact. Plymouth take on a side buoyed by a new manager and Luton draw too many to be backed at odds on.

There are two bets I like though and the first is Wycombe over at Cambridge. Cambridge went all the way to extra time on Thursday night and now have to play this game only just over 36hrs later. That isn’t going to be easy so Wycombe should be fancying their chances there. Wycombe aren’t the best side going around but they are well rested and should improve with Luke O’Nien back and I like them on the draw no bet line.

Notts County always looked like missing Jon Stead and when I was there watching Luton a few weeks ago they looked extremely ordinary and clueless up front without him and Newport can take advantage of that. I expected Newport to struggle this season and I wasn’t wrong initially but like Graham Westley or hate him (most opt for the latter and with good reason!) his sides win matches in this division.

Newport have won their last three now and Westley managed sides are always hard to play against. I fancy the Welsh side can get a result at Meadow Lane. Only Leyton Orient have been beaten there this season and they’re a terrible side too so there is enough to like about the chances of Newport in that one.
