Indian Premier League 2017 – Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Sunrisers Hyderabad Betting Preview

There is one match in the Indian Premier League for us to enjoy on Tuesday and more importantly bet on. It is a repeat of the opening match of the season and last season’s final as the Royal Challengers Bangalore host the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The Sunrisers won both that final last year and the season opener so they are looking for another win here which would strengthen their playoff chances. Bangalore have dropped to the bottom of the table in recent times and will be desperate to escape.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

It was already a season of disappointment for the beaten finalists of last year but they sunk to an all-time low in their last match when they were bowled out for a paltry 49 in their defeat to the Kolkata Knight Riders. It goes without saying that they will have to put that shambles behind them and get back to functioning normally.

There was a positive in the defeat to Kolkata and that came with the ball where they hung in very strongly and then began to dominate. More often than not they would have won the match courtesy of their bowling effort and it hasn’t been too often down the years we’ve been able to say that so that is something to take from defeat.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Just like their opponents in this match the Sunrisers Hyderabad lost their last match when they ran into an MS Dhoni masterclass and they head into this one without an away win all season so the champions have a couple of obstacles to overcome if they are to come out of this with a much craved win.

One reason why Dhoni was allowed to be so violent at the end of that match was the drop in form of the Sunrisers attack, especially at the end of the innings, and that is something they will have to address going forward in the tournament and especially here if the pitch plays how it can do on this ground.

Team News

It remains to be seen how Bangalore react to that dismal batting effort last time out. They could send the same line up out to put it right or they could recall Shane Watson or Travis Head.

Sunrisers Hyderabad may have to tweak their bowling attack. Ashish Nehra is good under pressure and after a rest he may well come back into the side. Yuvraj Singh is also expected to return.

Betting

The way Bangalore are playing right now if this match wasn’t at the Chinnaswamy then I would be backing the Sunrisers all day long but I can’t bring myself to get involved in the match betting here given how small the ground is and how anything can happen and no score is safe.

Scores on this ground haven’t been as high as in the past this season but there hasn’t been a match here for nine days now so I’m expecting the wicket to have settled down and I fancy a belting track to get this Bangalore batting line up back on track.

These two rarely do low scoring games and I’m not convinced this one will be either. I’m expecting a reaction to defeats from both sides and that can lead to plenty of boundaries. In normal circumstances a 40.5 boundaries line on this ground would look small. Given what we’ve seen it is about right but this is the day I expect both to deliver so I’m on the overs here.

I’m also going to get involved in Kedar Jadhav to top score for the home side. Amazingly he top scored on Sunday with a score of nine! That won’t happen again but he would have top scored against Bangalore in the season opener had he not been brilliantly run out. At 17/2 his consistency makes him a no brainer.
