2017 Royal London One Day Cup – Sunday 7th May Matches Betting Preview

Alongside the ODI at Lord’s on Sunday there is a full round of Royal London One Day Cup matches and with the competition heading towards the half way mark in the group stages each match is added to in its significance which makes Sunday a big day.

Sadly with so many matches on show there isn’t anything from this competition on the television but all of them are covered in the various other media streams and plenty of markets have gone up accordingly.

North Group

With the leaders Worcestershire not in action on Sunday there is a chance for the sides in behind them to take advantage of that. Yorkshire can go top if they see off Derbyshire at Headingley while Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire will move closer to Worcestershire depending on who wins their clash at Welbeck Colliery. The bottom two in the group meet at Edgbaston when Warwickshire host Lancashire while Durham and Northants meet at the Riverside.

South Group

The leaders in the South, Somerset, are not in action either so it is a big day in this group as well. Essex will be looking to join Somerset on eight points when they head to Wales to take on Glamorgan. Sussex and Surrey will be looking to enhance their own positions when they take on each other at Hove. Hampshire and Gloucestershire face off at the Ageas Bowl while Canterbury stages Kent’s clash with Middlesex.

Betting

There are plenty of markets available for these matches but my form in this competition has been horrible for the last few days so I’m going to scale it back to basics and build a platform ahead of the two day break and then look to get back to bigger things later in the week when the TV matches return.

I will take two bets for Sunday though and they are on two home sides I expect to win. Durham have started pretty well this season. They have two wins and a no result from their four matches and their defeat wasn’t exactly disastrous against Yorkshire when it took something quite amazing from Jonny Bairstow to deny them.

Durham face a Northamptonshire side who are haemorrhaging runs at an alarming rate this season. That isn’t good when Durham have put up 300 twice already. You’ve got to think Durham’s attack will be on top in the key moments more than the Northants one so they look a solid bet.

Warwickshire know if they are to defend their title successfully they are in last chance saloon and I think they can win their match with Lancashire. Lancashire have been competitive at times in this competition and woeful at others and now they have lost Ryan McLaren to injury. Warwickshire’s results haven’t been as they would like but they’re not playing badly. I think they’ll get back to winning ways here.
