The second round of the WGC Bridgestone Invitational takes place at the Firestone Country Club on Friday and we should be in for a cracking afternoon of golf with some of the best players in the world already towards the head of the leaderboard.
Thursday Recap
Thomas Pieters secured the early lead after a five under 65 on Thursday. He leads by a shot from Russell Knox who is chasing a second WGC title. There is a seriously strong group two off the lead on three under including man of the moment Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy, Bubba Watson and Jon Rahm while Dustin Johnson and Adam Scott are a shot further back.
It was a good first day for us betting wise as we had a winner and a dead heat from our two first round bets. Hudson Swafford came out on top against Pat Perez and Sam Brazel while Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy tied so we’re off to a good start.

Friday Betting
At the time of writing there is no market for the second round leader although I probably would not have gone near one anyway because for the second day in a row the tee times have been moved up and the players are out in threes off of two tees to avoid the weather later in the day. That leaves us with the three balls to get stuck into.
Friday 3 balls
As with the opening day we have all the groups out onto the golf course priced up for us to go at. The groupings remain the same as the opening day but the value in the two bets I took on Thursday has largely gone for Friday so I am targeting one other group instead.
Alex Noren/Thomas Pieters/Phil Mickelson
Match tees off at 14.30 BST
The tournament leader goes off the first tee in the final group out when Thomas Pieters heads out with Alex Noren and Phil Mickelson. Pieters saw off Noren by four shots on Thursday and Mickelson by six shots.
Surprisingly some bookmakers don’t have Pieters as the favourite for this group. Alex Noren is seen as the favourite in some quarters but this course sets up well for Pieters. He whacks it a mile and with his short game if he manages the course well he is not going to go backwards.
Mickelson can be anything on any day but we haven’t seen him play that well for a while and Noren ended with a bogey on Thursday which is not a good position to go into Friday with. I think the 7/4 Pieters wins this group again is a shade too big.
