The Greatest Show on Turf has arrived as on Sunday evening the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles will close out the NFL season when they compete in Super Bowl LII in Minnesota.
The Patriots are one win away from a successful defence of the Vince Lombardi Trophy while the Eagles are at the last dance for the first time since the 2004 season and will be looking to maximise their opportunity.
New England Patriots
Considering the NFL has a draft system in place and all the other methods to try and avoid lengthy periods of dominance the success of the New England Patriots in recent times is hard to be underestimated. They will be competing in their third Super Bowl in the last four and will be looking to win for a third time in that span and a sixth time in total.
The dominance of the Patriots is based on one of the best quarterback and coaching partnerships of all time in Tom Brady and Bill Belichick and if there is a pairing that knows how to get the best out of teams in the showpiece occasion it is them. The Patriots offense is almost unrivalled and if their defence turns up they’ll be tough to beat again.
Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles have been one of the teams of the season and totally dominated the NFC in the early stages. Things got a little cloudier for them when Carson Wentz went down with an injury towards the end of the regular season but despite being written off in both play-off matches so far, even though they were at home in each, they have made it through.
The eye catching thing about the Eagles is the balance of their side. While Nick Foles is not Carson Wentz he is decent enough and has some good receiving options while Jay Ajayi has brought some power to the running game alongside former Patriot LeGarrette Blount. It is on defence where the Eagles have particularly impressed especially in the pass rush and that could be significant here.

Betting
We should be treated to a really good Super Bowl here and I actually fancy the Philadelphia Eagles to win it although when taking on the New England Patriots it is often best to air on the side of caution and tread carefully so I will back them on the handicap.
I think the Eagles are the better all-around team of these two and if they can get pressure on Brady up the middle through the likes of Fletcher Cox then they can go a long way to winning the match. They will still need Nick Foles to stand up and be counted but he has done little wrong so far this season. If he can avoid turnovers then I think the Eagles have the tools to win the match but to remain within five points at the very least.
