2017-18 Premier League – Sunday 1st April Matches Betting Preview

The Easter festivities in the Premier League draws to a close on Sunday afternoon when the final two matches of the round are played and we will get a real focus on the race for qualification for the Champions League next season.

Among the pair of matches we have three London sides all chasing what looks to be one last spot among Europe’s elite next season and we also have a team who need the points to stave off the threat of relegation so we should be getting a good day of football.

Arsenal vs Stoke City

We get the action underway at the Emirates Stadium where Arsenal are continuing to make a token gesture to be part of the Champions League top four push but in reality they are just trying to win as many matches as they can between now and the end of the season. Stoke will go level with Crystal Palace who are fourth from bottom with a win.

Arsenal have their problems when they take on the bigger sides in this league but generally when they are at home to the lesser sides they are comfortable and usually take the majority of them to the cleaners and I expect them to do that here.

Stoke will have a good go at containing Arsenal but that is easier said than done especially at home. Stoke’s survival will be determined or otherwise against the teams around them not Arsenal away. This is a freebie for them but not one I think they’ll get anything out of. I’m expecting a comfortable Arsenal win.

Chelsea vs Tottenham

The second match of the afternoon is much the bigger one of the two as the chase for the Champions League spot is really under the microscope. If Tottenham can beat Chelsea they would almost guarantee a top four finish. A Chelsea win blows the whole thing wide open again.

I must admit I struggle to get a feel for Chelsea matches at the minute because of their strange inconsistency. My gut feel is they will win this match because Tottenham are without Harry Kane but they’ve not done too badly without him in recent times so maybe they can find a way to win. I’m not confident either way so I’m not going to bet here.
