2018 Royal London One Day Cup – Saturday 19th May Matches Betting Preview

The Royal London One Day Cup continues on Saturday with just the two matches across the country with one coming from each group. It is a day which sees the two sides yet to get their limited overs seasons underway doing so and they do that against teams looking for a second win in two outings.

Sadly neither match gets the TV treatment on Saturday which is a pity but these days there are plenty of ways to keep up to date with everything via the county websites, social media feeds and the like.

Available until 12 noon Saturday

Sussex vs Hampshire

The one match in the South Group sees Hampshire getting their competition underway when they travel to Hove to take on a Sussex side who should be full of confidence after beating Kent on the opening day of the tournament on Thursday.

You could argue Sussex won that match with plenty in hand too actually as Luke Wright got out cheaply and they still had plenty of batting to come when they knocked off the total required. Hampshire head into this match off the back of a stuttering start to their County Championship campaign so it will be interesting to see how they will play.

I think there is an advantage for Sussex here. Hampshire are missing three key players in Kyle Abbott, Liam Dawson and Sam Northeast and much looks to rest on the shoulders of James Vince and Hashim Amla. I underestimated Sussex on Thursday when I shouldn’t have done but having had a run I think they’ll be even stronger here and at odds against there is certainly some value on them to see off a Hampshire side for whom the needle is starting to lean in the overrated direction.

Worcestershire vs Derbyshire

The North Group contest could be a big one when the overall tallies are added up as Worcestershire begin their limited overs season when they host Derbyshire at New Road. Derbyshire have already played a match this season and won it against a very highly rated Warwickshire side.

I’ll be interested to see how Worcestershire go here because they have been improving in one day cricket for the last few seasons. It will also be interesting to see how Derbyshire go and if they can back up their big win on Thursday with another road victory here. I wouldn’t say I’m confident at all with how I see this playing out though so this feels like a match to steer clear of.

Tips

Back Sussex to beat Hampshire for a 4/10 stake at 2.10 with William Hill
