Another weekend in the MLS begins with eight matches up and down the country on Saturday evening. The Western Conference is under the spotlight in the majority of the matches but there are still issues in the East on the line as well.
Unfortunately the TV action this weekend is saved for Sunday’s matches so we are reduced to the live streams to keep up with the action but there are plenty of them around which is the good thing.
Saturday’s fixtures are as follows: (UK kick off time in brackets)
Columbus Crew v Houston Dynamo (00.30)
New England Revolution v Philadelphia Union (00.30)
Chicago Fire v New York Red Bulls (01.30)
Colorado Rapids v San Jose Earthquakes (02.00)
Real Salt Lake v Montreal Impact (03.00)
Los Angeles Galaxy v Minnesota (03.30)
Los Angeles FC v Sporting Kansas City (03.30)
Portland Timbers v Vancouver Whitecaps (04.00)
Big Matches
With both Conference leaders not in action on Saturday it is the chance for the chasing packs to show their worth so all eyes will be on New York Red Bulls when they head to the windy city to face Chicago Fire and then later in the night it will be on the Portland Timbers to see if they can continue their good form when they host the Vancouver Whitecaps.
Best of the Rest
The two sides either side of the play-off line in the Eastern Conference meet when the New England Revolution take on the Philadelphia Union while Columbus Crew and Houston Dynamo do battle. It might just be that the match of the night comes from the Banc of California Stadium when Los Angeles FC host the Sporting Kansas City with both sides in the top four in the Western Conference.

Betting
There is just the one bet that interests me on what isn’t the easiest card to predict on Saturday evening. That comes in the match at the Stubhub Center where Zlatan Ibrahimovic and his LA Galaxy side welcome Minnesota United to town.
I’m expecting goals in this match. Galaxy are starting to find a real groove especially in front of goal and Minnesota are no strangers to conceding them at a heavy rate. They have a bit about them themselves though so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them contribute to the scoring. Whoever does the bulk of the scoring I’m expecting over 3.5 goals here.
