After a rare day off in the snooker calendar, the tour returns on Tuesday when the qualifying competition for the International Championship begins at the Metrodome in Barnsley. The prize money is decent for this tournament so all of the best of 11 frame matches will be keenly contested.
Indeed it is £4,000 for the winners of the one qualifying match between Barnsley and the main event in China at the end of the month. The winners this week will head to China looking to do battle for the £175,000 first prize.

Morning Session
Five matches will be played out in the morning session on the opening day of action and in terms of big names it is all about Anthony McGill. He faces the Chinese challenger Xu Si on one of the main tables while the other match being streamed in this session sees Ken Doherty taking on Chris Totten. The three matches away from the cameras sees Xiao Guodong facing Lukas Kleckers, Mark Davis meeting Elliot Slessor and Stuart Carrington playing Hammad Miah.
Afternoon Session
Neil Robertson is the big draw in the second session of the day when he takes on the man who ran Mark Allen close in Lommel last week in Ross Muir. They are on one of the main tables with the other one seeing Barry Hawkins taking on Sanderson Lam for a place in China. As with the above session there are three matches on the outside tables with Matt Selt facing Sean O’Sullivan, Peter Ebdon meeting Ian Burns and Thepchaiya Un-Nooh going up against Mei Xi Wen.
Evening Session
Just the four matches take place in the final session with the two main tables occupied by players who will be annoyed not to have gone further in Lommel last week in Kyren Wilson and Jack Lisowski. Wilson faces the challenge of Nigel Bond while Lisowski meets friend and stablemate Oliver Lines. The other two matches sees Lyu Haotian facing Fan Zhengyi and Andrew Higginson taking on Rhys Clark.

Betting
I’ll go with a couple of bets on Tuesday. The first one sees Matt Selt completing what should be a pretty routine win over Sean O’Sullivan. O’Sullivan has entered six tournaments this season so far and he hasn’t won a match in any of them. Worse still he hasn’t made a 50 break all campaign yet so he is really struggling. Selt might not be the best player known to man but when chances are handing to him he has enough scoring power to take them. I expect him to win this no worse than 6-3.
The other bet I like is for Mei Xi Wen to see off Thepchaiya Un-Nooh. Wen has already seen off Shaun Murphy this season and he pushed John Higgins to a deciding frame in China a couple of weeks ago so he is playing some nice stuff. We’ve not really seen it from Un-Nooh yet this season and I thought he was pretty ordinary when we saw him on the TV table in Lommel last week, admittedly against a Kyren Wilson who is playing well. Wen is proving tough to beat at the minute and odds against on him to come through is more than fair.
