The race for the knockout matches continues in earnest in the Mzansi Super League on Friday when another double header takes place in the competition. Three of the four teams in action are very much involved in that race so this is a big day of action.
We have the leaders in play on Friday and the two sides giving up the best battle for the knockout spots. With big players available now we should be in for a couple of excellent matches to cover us for the day.
Durban Heat vs Jozi Stars
The opening match of the day is probably bigger for the Jozi Stars when they make the trip to Kingsmead to take on the Durban Heat side who have been one of the biggest disappointments of 2018 thus far.
Durban are playing for pride only after a horrendous beginning to the tournament and they will do so against arguably the most in form side in the competition at the minute in Jozi Stars. The Stars are playing some nice cricket with the bat and the ball currently and they have Chris Gayle in their ranks and were he to go off on one of his blitzes the visitors may well be away and gone.
The last match here was played on a good batting wicket and I’m expecting this one to as well so I fancy that the runs in the match will soar past the 310.5 mark. Durban have shipped runs in this tournament but they have enough batting to do some damage themselves. I’ll take the over there.

Cape Town Blitz vs Paarl Rocks
The second match of the day is one which the Paarl Rocks can ill afford to lose. They head to the leaders Cape Town Blitz knowing that anything but a victory will leave them up against it in their bid to make the knockout stages.
The Cape Town Blitz have been the best team in this tournament so far and will be expected to win another match in this one. The Paarl Rocks suffered a huge setback to their hopes of making the knockout stages in the last match and have to bounce back here but that won’t be easy against a fine side.
I think the Blitz will have too much here. With Mohammad Nawaz back there is a fair amount of balance in this side. Dale Steyn and Quinton de Kock bring huge quality with the bat and the ball and I’m just a bit concerned about the lack of true batting depth for the Rocks with a number of all-rounders in their side. There are one or two weaker links with the ball too. I expect Cape Town to win this with a bit in hand.
