A huge weekend of Premier League football begins on Friday night when Leicester City play host to Newcastle United at the King Power Stadium. The visitors are not yet mathematically safe while the home side are chasing a top seven finish so there is enough at stake to get us started.
Leicester are improving under Brendan Rodgers while Rafael Benitez is hoping to showcase improvement so we should get some entertainment to kick off one of the biggest weekends of the campaign to date.

Leicester City
I thought when they made the appointment that Brendan Rodgers was a good pick for Leicester City and that is how it is panning out having won their last four matches. You could argue that they have only played three sides in the relegation mix and a poor Bournemouth side in that time but it isn’t necessarily what they have beaten, it is more the pleasing way that they have won those matches, with them looking to get on the front foot with young attacking players.
There is a vulnerability about Leicester defensively, although they have been without a couple of key defenders in that recent run, but I sense supporters will accept that if their side are entertaining and looking to get at the opposition. I’m sure in time they will improve in defensive areas as well in time so the Foxes could become a very good outfit.
Newcastle United
It has been a season of two halves for Newcastle United. The majority of the first half of it was all about survival but since January they have been able to be a little more expansive, use their home form to their advantage and pull away from danger. They are not completely safe yet but they won’t have any problem securing Premier League football for next season.
There were times in the campaign when they would have gone to places like Leicester and look to shut up shop. They might still do that but I sense that they have looked to go and win matches and attempt to secure their safety as quickly as possible. With that in mind we maybe shouldn’t be completely surprised if they do show an expansive approach at some point in this one.
Team News
Jonny Evans and Harry Maguire are both available for the home side for this one but the match comes too soon for Marc Albrighton. Jamie Vardy is expected to play despite a niggling groin problem in recent times.
Newcastle United will be without Florian Lejeune who has been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign with a knee injury. They do however have Mo Diame back as he has recovered from the issue which saw him miss the Crystal Palace defeat last week.

Betting
I like Leicester City here I have to say. I like their attacking intent and the quality they have in attacking areas. There might have been a time when teams like them would have struggled to break down teams like Newcastle but the addition of Youri Tielemans is a massive one. He looks like a real defence splitter.
I’ve nothing massively against the 4/6 on the Foxes here but the even money on Leicester to win and over 1.5 goals in the match looks a decent bet to me. If you don’t like 4/6 then this bet would cover a 2-1 score which would only bring in half of the handicap. Leicester have scored twice in each of their last five wins while Crystal Palace were the first side in five not to score twice against Newcastle. Leicester won 2-0 at St James’ earlier in the season and a similar outcome wouldn’t be beyond them here.
