There is another double header in the Indian Premier League on Easter Sunday and they are a couple of potentially very important matches too as the season begins to head towards the latter stages of the regular season.
The first game sees the Sunrisers Hyderabad taking on the Kolkata Knight Riders in a meeting between the two sides immediately below the top four, with a place in the play-off spots the reward for whoever wins.
Sunrisers Hyderabad
It has been a tough campaign for the Sunrisers Hyderabad so far but there are signs that they are coming to the boil. Their bowling attack has always been the foundation of their success over recent times and it is good then that they are starting to deliver the goods on a regular basis. If they middle order can now find someone in form then there is no reason why a big run can’t develop.
The Sunrisers have four wins and four losses on their ledger but with games in hand they have the chance to launch a run of form which will catapult them into the top four for when it matters. They could really do with launching that run of form soon though because they do begin to lose big players over the next couple of weeks.
Kolkata Knight Riders
It has been a remarkable slump for the Kolkata Knight Riders in recent times. At one stage in this season they had four wins from five matches and four outings later they are still on that number of victories and really need to get off that mark soon if they are going to make the play-offs. They looked like the real deal earlier in the campaign but holes have appeared recently and they are getting bigger.
This is a side who have become too reliant on Andre Russell and they really need someone else to stand up and be counted both with the bat and the ball and that needs to happen soon. There is plenty of talent in this Kolkata squad so now it has to come out of them and turn into performances on the outfield.
Team News
Given that they won their last match I would expect the Sunrisers Hyderabad to be unchanged for this match. If there did want to switch anything around it may come in their batting order rather than a change in personnel.
Andre Russell continues to look like he is struggling fitness wise and with this being Kolkata’s second match in less than 48hrs it will be interesting to see if he plays. They may need to make a change to the bowling with Lockie Ferguson potentially being called upon again.

Betting
I still have big issues with the Sunrisers Hyderabad and their middle order but I am going to take them in this match. Both teams have heavily reliant on individuals. Sunrisers on David Warner and Jonny Bairstow and Kolkata very much needing Andre Russell to perform to the best of his abilities, but he will fail now and then and you’ve got to think whoever has the best showing among that group will win the game for their side.
There is nothing from this Kolkata bowling line up to suggest that Bairstow and Warner won’t get their side off to another excellent start so if their bowlers can control Russell as much as possible when he comes to the crease then there is a good chance the home side win this match. Strategy will be important here and I like Kane Williamson as a captain. I’ll back him to lead his side home against a side who have to be jaded with their tough schedule of the last 48hrs.
